Wasn't just roads you know. If you believed their promises then more fool you.

Of course they believed their promises. that's why they voted them in! I know people I would consider sensible that did just that. Amazed me considering the track record Labour had. I can only shake my head every time I think of it. Never mind. Sun still shines.

At least Transmission gully was too far advanced for them to stop [ it though they threatened to at the prev election . No surprise it was pie in the sky ideals by labour no cost/benefit ratios but they really had no idea of the real costs

Anyone who believes a Politicians promises, especially Election promises, is a fool.

What really bugs me is, the building they make Stupid decisions in, is getting a $250m upgrade, in order for them (Jac's Idiots) to make the same Stupid decisions in the future.

While going back on promises does suck, to be fair on the current administration we have had a both a global pandemic & massive cost over-runs on transmission gully since Jan 2020. Seem's sensible to re-evaluate projects in that light.

s_nz, Apr 29, 8:47am
You mean the project that an independent review found was "flawed from the start"?

From this write up, looks to me that reconsidering those new roads might be a bloody good idea:

https://www.greaterauckland.org.nz/2021/04/29/nz-upgrade-programme-review-a-huge-opportunity-for-climate-action/ They were planning to spend $1.3 *billion* dollars on a single road in Auckland (Mills Road), which the council doesn't think is needed until there is a lot more people living in the area.
Given the massive cost blow out in Transmission gully and that they were planning to spend billions without even considering they might go over budget like everything else they do, I think some scaling down of the spend would be a good idea.

I think when people start throwing around massive numbers like $247 for things like 'Drury rail station enhancements' they lose sight of just how much money that is. It's just some buildings and platforms they are talking about.

The Puhinui station is a massive and very flash building which cost $60m. so the proposed Drury stations must be gold plated or something.
