LTSA accredited time machine

peacebird15, Feb 26, 3:30am
Im 59 minutes into a phone call (that should read being on hold) with the LTSA. "oh the wait time for the next person is only 2 to 3 mins" they say when its over 15. I wonder if secretly LTSA stand for Loves To Stir Anger or Likes Time Shat Away because they are doing a fine job of that.

Already my math says the 0800 charges have cost LTSA $3.10 more than the toll charge they want from me.

Nearly a year ago I started to get toll notices a while back for a road I have never been near for a rego number I didnt recognize.
Although I do own a vehicle that matches the description that hasnt been anywhere for years.
I tried to call the LTSA a few times over it but 15 minutes into the hold game, I would hang up. Not my rego, never been there, to frustrating to waste time waiting on someone elses screw up during working hours.

I figured because there is maybe 2 other vehicles that match the description in all of NZ, someone was bound to look at the picture that the toll road camera took and say "oh man, theres no way thats a match, we have screwed this up".

Ah you silly optimistic fool.

So then I get called by debt collectors, for a rego that I have no idea about and a road I have never been on. Aussie accent. Its like this whole thing is a masterclass in annoying.

So currently an hour into the hold game with the LTSA It turns out that 23 years, 2 plates and at least 3 owners back, that WAS the rego number of my vehicle. I guess for the LTSA its like catching a serial killer through ancestry DNA test.

Perhaps my vehicle travelled back to the year 1998, got its old plate, travelled to the present, then without me knowing it could even run, it self drove itself to this toll road then back into storage. If so I will willingly pay the toll and then be the first person on trademe to auction off a working time machine and autonomous vehicle. (after I buy some bitcoin back in 2009)

And somehow I have to prove that it wasnt me. I cant get access to the photo of the vehicle because to much time has lapsed. Turns out its a great automated system, nobody has looked at the photo at any point. And after all this they want me to "just call us back." Its going to get sorted, its just frustrating.

So keep an eye out for "LTSA accredited Time machine" in an auction soon

> LTSA

Well that'll be your problem, they havn't existed for years. NZTA or Waka Kotahi is the name of the day, you can call them WKers for short.

Let's Do The Time Warp Again ! Before NZTA, it was NZSA for awhile. He's probably still driving a MKIV Cortina.

Get onto FairGo they might get a resolution.

Delays tend to happen when you try ringing defunct or superceded organisations

2sheddies, Feb 26, 9:22am
I might still refer to it as LTSA just to piss off the sniveling leftie snowflakes with their Waka Coathanger or whatever the hell moniker they use now.

Look the telegraph I sent would have still got through, I didnt risk a carrier pigeon

NZTA is doing everything it possibly can to become uncontactable.
They are by FAR the most difficult government disorganisation Ive ever had to deal with.
Peacebird has experienced NOTHING compared to the wait time to try to work out an ACTUAL safety rating for cars brand new to the NZ market.
You have about a 30 minute wait at EVERY single step.--Call centre staff then their "senior" staff then through to the "specialist team" --worse despite living in the 21'st century you have to repeat yourself every single time

thats racist

2010 Management 101 for new CEO's
1. Change the name of the organization.
2. Make the older, experienced staff redundant.
3. Promote new middle-managers who are diverse, often incompetent and knowing they owe you their positions, they will support you to the death.

Waka Kotaki NZTA have become devilled by so many logistical and policy issues of late. They're being pulled six ways from Sunday in different directions by all these sometimes overlapping, sometimes at odds Government departments and their ideals, this is showing up in the dysfunction you describe.

Worth remembering- NZTA are merely the policy FACILITATORS in most areas. They take the policy DIRECTIVES from assorted Government whims and work out (a) how to enable these whims, and (b) oversee their ongoing management. So:

Vehicle safety- Kaz, your issues with star ratings for safety are not an NZTA issue, they're from RightCar, who in turn, is being funded at least in part and given direction by, ACC. NZTA have simply been given the task of building the star system in to the platform. And RightCar are even harder t deal with than NZTA. (worth noting- you might recall the ESC debacle- I was at the forefront of the trenches to combat the blunt instrument proposed- the idea of mandatory ESC came from a workshop in Australia attended by several middle ACC managers, who in turn worked up a policy that was in turn given to the Minister of Transport, who in turn. you get the idea.

Environment- Fuel Saver labels, and now the proposed Fuel and Carbon Feebate schemes- Ministry of Transport (Environment) in conjunction with Minister for the Environment, EECA, Minister for Climate Change. RightCar (again) the administrators, NZTA merely implementation.

Entry certification / WOF / LVV issuance etc DOES fall under NZTA but a series of departments and middle managers, often the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

Ministry of Transport- overarching policy Government department that works up policy and rules at either the whim of Ministers, or other Departments, and then requires NZTA to figure out how to implement.

Too many cooks, too many directives, workload, changing policy and on top of all this, the current wor on arguably the biggest policy direction the fleet has seen since the removal of tarrifs, so middle management siphoned off to look after the End Of The World stuff ie Paris and Kyoto accords, electric cars, banning fossil fuels, bicycle paths, walking etc.

It's no wonder the call centre is dysfunctional!

looks to me like helf and safety are in charge of that lot westwyn.

NZTA have been given the job of getting it right. if it isn't right then advertising it as right is false advertising. --Clearly it is not right.

franc123, Mar 2, 3:52am
NZTA are being careful not to increase their already substantial legal bills right now. They haven't got many friends right now.

Try customs or one of their appointed agents.

While I fully sympathise, you don't know how lucky you are.

Any time I want anything from NZTA I just email them. Quite prompt answers and a paper trail if it goes wrong.

socram, Mar 3, 9:40am
Thankfully, I haven't had any need to contact them, but putting a rego on hold or relicensing, paying RUC etc., their website and systems are world class.

Yeah the online services are pretty good.
