We have a new rack that has lights built in. When the rack is plugged in to the 7 pin plug brake and tail lights work fine but indicators will flash once then stop. The fault is intermittent though. Sometimes they do work. A trailer when plugged into car works fine. Tried the rack on another car and all works fine. It would appear that all is wired correctly.
Any suggestions? Im wondering if there is an issue with the car rather than the wiring? Perhaps the greater current draw is affecting things?

Is the rack LEDs? Sometimes mixing LED and 'normal' bulbs does not work.

Drop into a auto electrician and have them test it or put the bike somewhere else (roof)

If your car is led,s then nothing you plug into it will operate, YOU will need an adaptor which has electronics in it to "fool" your cars computer into thinking there is NO fault due to the extra load. Rule is Car with LEDS: you need an adaptor Car ordinary bulbs:trailer LEDs or Bulbs no adaptor needed. If one of the LED,s in trailer is faulty then it will some times work once then seems to lock out: solution replace faulty LED, I had this with a borrowed trailer $56.00 to replace combo tail stop, indicator module.

intermittent fault I'd be checking all the connections on the racks wiring. I'd also check that the "pins" are making good solid contact.

Sometimes the split pins on the plug need opening up to make full contact, don't open to wide and snap them though.
