How does something like this actually work?

I've got an older BMW, can't spend $1000 on upgrading system but i need bluetooth/hands free calling for work.

Simply charge up the device, turn it on and pair your phone to it. You should only need to pair your phone to it once, then each time you get in the car, turn the device on, and your phone will link to it. You'll probably have to turn the device off as you leave the car, as otherwise your phone will go out of range of the device, then may not reconnect when you get back in the car. A bit of a faff, but better than shelling out for a new system for your car.

I have something similar. Needs to be recharged every so often. Sometimes it will not say it is connected but that is usually fixed by restarting my phone. If you don't turn it off when you leave the car you need to disconnect through your phone settings or else you will not be able to use your phone, that's what happens with mine.

Only thing is some of those units the speakers can
Be a bit hard to hear.
So do a bit of homework first.
I’ve got a Jabra hfs100 for the trucks has bigger speakers
And easy to hear.
Cost $150 a few years ago but it’s worth spending that little bit xtra.
