Ok sending cash in a envlope .

intrade, Dec 22, 9:01pm
OK where to start i will have to write how it has come to this and i am not a gambler but i took a gamble.
Ok it started with me having swiss franks euros from my Holdon astra sale.
I went to the bank and was told because i have cash i am a criminal . i did not know they did that to everyone . so steam was rising off the top of my head.
I then went to rotorua To exchange the funds at the bank
Anz told me they will shut down taking cash for nz$ from 14 last month if i recall correctly. So i had i think it was 150£ left over . they give a poor exchange plus process fees.
I need to buy from darkside development So i would have to change £ cash in to nz$ then back in to pounds again to then buy with it=
this would have made the pounds so worthless that i went and used a normal envelope addressed it to uk and told them at the post nothing of value is inside.

These new money laundering rules are a pain in the arse, but wife recently cashed in 2000 euros we had from a previous trip and there wasn't an issue. We figured we should get rid of the stuff before the eurozone collapses lol.

intrade, Dec 22, 9:08pm
that was sent a few days before the 14th because i don't want to loose money and because you cant send money well obviously you can as i just demonstrated.
anyhow this morning i got this in the email. cut and pasted
cut and paste
Risky business sending Cash, I am surprised it arrived without someone stealing it!

I've applied it to your account anyway so you can order now

Cheers!

Omg.

intrade, Dec 22, 9:13pm
So yea i take calculated gambles . I could have lost it but meh i now won as it cost like 2.80$ nz or so to send it. i also made the A4 page folded and had the cash secure in the folds so cant be seen thru from outside.
There was i think one mate recon they will sniff it out and confiscate it .
Well obviously there was no drugs on that money as i owned it for years from my training trip to wulferhampton . birmingham.

intrade, Dec 22, 9:17pm
So My calculations was money is as good as the Reichsmark that i found as a kid in a drawer . if you cant buy nothing with it.
Like what would you want in the middle of the Sahara desert 10 liter water or 10 million in cash?
i know what i would take.

casualobserver, Dec 22, 9:19pm
Gibberish.

You lost me at "swiss franks euros" - a currency that doesn't actually exist.

bill-robinson, Dec 22, 9:26pm
auck int airport should be able to change it. take your passport and get them to transfer straight to your bank acc.

intrade, Dec 22, 9:26pm
ok i frequently go or did go to countrys for training in automotive diagnostics. England - gemany . australia all country i visited to take courses and my cash money comes from there.
i did sell my car and got given 2000 euros because i was going to germany . that was given 4 weeks before the global virus outbrake.
More clear. Otherwise ask more specific questions of what you dont understand . unless your a troll of course.

intrade, Dec 22, 9:28pm
Yes but i sure as hell dont go to auckland airport and get the virus. i told you i made a calculated gamble.
this is why i have no mortgage also . i take calculated risks . i also have 0 nada insurance for nothing. just if you wonder how i save all money. But you need to be sure you dont have a accident if i was a poor driver i sure would not do this.

intrade, Dec 22, 9:40pm
the 150 pound would have been about 80 pounds by the time i finished getting that cash to the same place as now 150£ are there . The danger was that i end up with 0 pounds . not just 80 but that's how i calculate risks and act on it .
80 verses 150 or 0. The money was the same value as german reichs mark unless i done something . Or monopoly money .
If you dont understand this then you need to do research and it would also explain why you are in debt. when you dont understand the fundamental basics . For me it started with putting money in the piggy bank and i was super rich when i had 100 bux with my mates business venture selling candles as kid.

budgel, Dec 22, 9:52pm
Nobody at a bank said that you were a criminal because you had cash, they would have said the rules are in place to stop criminal transactions.

I agree that banks want to clip the ticket too much in any international transaction.

tygertung, Dec 22, 9:59pm
I have sent cash before, I put it into a christmas card or something to block the money from being seen from the outside.

Got there no problem.

msigg, Dec 22, 10:00pm
Intrade go and find a partner and tell them your problems. We don't need to hear your none motoring frustrations. You need to get out and have a life. Go fishing catch some snapper maybe.

intrade, Dec 22, 10:13pm
msigg i have no problems i just did think somone maybe interested what happens when you send money like this. no guerantee yours would make it and you cant tell em or they wont send it.
Also that money i got originally from english bonus bonds. that i desided was a waste of time. They sent me a cheque years ago. Then the money from this had old defunkt banknotes that i was given by nz banks by the time i got to use it.
I was stuck at birmingham airport with uk pounds that no one would take. So i had to use my credit card to get a train ticket to go to a specialist dealer who took 25% or so just to change it in to usable notes.
if you keep the cash for to long the governments turn it in to worthless just like the 5 bux in my cupboard from my first pay i got working in new zealand in the 90s.

kazbanz, Dec 22, 10:18pm
Intrade The new law is in effect.
Take anything more than a $999.99 payment in Cash and the anti money laundering laws come into effect.
So anything more than 10k and they are required BY LAW to do the governments job for them.
yet if you gave them $9900 they ask no questions as per normal.
I get the whole point of the law but I totally resent being required to act as an unpaid government employee.

tamarillo, Dec 22, 10:42pm
What rubbish, bank didn’t call you a criminal and sending money overseas is easy to do in online banking.

intrade, Dec 22, 11:01pm
So how do you send physical cash thru the internet ?
riddle me this?

m16d, Dec 22, 11:01pm
If your going to post cash, always write on the envelope. "contains cash"

intrade, Dec 22, 11:04pm
yea that be a sure way that it would 100 tousend percent not get there.

kazbanz, Dec 22, 11:07pm

Don't send ca$h in a envelope.
I sent ca$h to pay for a traffic fine once.
Years later I check my previous traffic fines etc from a printout from the Court fines place, and it's not mentioned on it.

( I did call them up at the time to tell them I was sending a ca$h donation to pay for fines just after sending it. Simply because where I was at the time was so remote I couldn't arrange any other method of doing it.
I have no idea of what happened to the ca$h & not insinuating anything towards anybody(s) since, fair enough, I paid my fine. It didn't come back at me. Fine with me )

jmma, Dec 23, 2:40am
Lol go intrade :o)

tegretol, Dec 23, 7:55am
Not any more. They want proof of where it came from, proof of who you are and proof that it's not the proceeds of crime or tax evasion. Unless those parameters are ALL satisfied, the bank become a potential party to a crime.

It's to stop the apalling business of black market tradies working for cash and to limit the huge amount of criminal cash floating around in the middle of drug and other criminal deals. They tell us we'll all be better off to not have cash and to trust our banks more.

apollo11, Dec 23, 8:02am
I'm obviously not the only one who can't bear to wade through intrade's gibberish to glean all the facts.
