Painting a bonnet

I decided to fill in the stone chips and paint my bonnet on the little shitter just for fun. I done it with duplicolor rattle cans.
In my research it said not to sand the base coat before applying lacquer and that the light colouring and roughness would end up coming out.
I’ve done about half the bonnet with a car polisher and polishing compound.
I watched YouTube clips of it being done and it seems to come out but not on this bonnet. Have spent about 30 or 40 minutes buffing.
Will it come out eventually if I keep going or do I need to start again.
Was painted on quite a hot day so I think it’s overspray sitting on the basecoat

You wont get it smooth enough with a buffer, you may have to wet sand it with 1200, then 2000 then try a mild cutting compound followed by a polish. It does sound like it was applied too hot (air and/or or surface temoerature) and the thinners has evaporated out too quickly.
