Discovery Sport is not in any way comparable to a RR Sport, and certainly not a 2L version. It’s also a hell of a stretch to even badge it as a Discovery, but that’s marketing for you.

Of course its going to more expensive to maintain than a so called normal car, but we don't all want corollas or tiidas. Things like air bag suspension can be prone to failure and very expensive her but parts can be sourced significantly cheaper overseas. If you intended to keep it for some time seriously consider purchasing an extended mechanical warranty.
Thanks for your comment. But as you will have read in my comment I wasn't comparing the Discovery Sport to the RR Sport.

So have YOU bought one yet? I'm quite happy to stick with my opinions and avoid their products at all costs.

Biggest critics are those who have never owned one.

Seeing as they have been around for 50 years, why not specialise?
All down to numbers on the road. Not just repairs either. Servicing is the main business, not repairs, but I'd rather deal with a factory trained mechanic with 30 years experience of the make, than a dogsbody mechanic.
Incidentally, as I also run a Rover V8 powered car and a Volvo six, the mechanic I entrusted with the rebuilds on both engines, who specialised in performance Rover V8's, stuffed the Volvo six in two areas, by not using genuine Volvo parts (core plugs and the O ring for the oil pump). The core plug failures caused me untold grief and expense.
It seems that there are plenty of non-factory trained mechanics, who seem to be 'know-it-alls' and are part of the reason for the lack of reliability of some makes/models, that seem to have gained a poor reputation. Not always of course and yes, I'm well aware of the so called poor reputation of all the cars I have bought for the last 40 years, but I'd have to go back to the days old Minis for any roadside failure, other than a duff battery on a Rover 420Gsi at the Airport and and a failed $5 hose on a Montego Turbo that the Toyota mechanic in Taupo couldn't diagnose.

Same here. Enjoyed my SD1. Have had Rover P4 90, P6B and P5B. Of course none of those had the electronics that modern cars have.
