Where can i buy a bull bar for a Hylux.

I`m looking for a bull bar for a 3ltr 2002 Toyota Hylux.
Preferably in the lower North Island.
Maybe bull bars will deter clowns from driving through give way and stop signs in front of me.

some tow bar manufacturers make them

How much money do you want to spend?

Or used from trademe or a wrecker?

I think it is very unlikely that bull bars will stop people failing to give way to you. Sadly Its just something you need to manage via defensive driving.

Should note that bull bars cost money, add weight to the front end of the vehicle, and not all are air bag compatible. Unless you wanted bull bars for another reason (appearance, driving through scrub etc) I wouldn't bother. They won't stop the vehicle from getting written off from a solid impact, but I imagine they are quite effective at preventing damage from car-park nudges.

I got a bull bar for my dmax but ended up not putting it on as more chance of killing someone if they pull out infront of me.
I'd try the local panel beaters and see if they can source one for you. Also not sure about hilux ones, but my one was going to take about 8 hours to install with two people doing it.

Thanks every one. Much appreciated. My truck has a few scratches in the
clear coat but no dents until a person in a people carrier backed into my left front guard and head light at a super market carpark then drove of.
Got their plate number and went to the cops. Got told to go to my insurance company because they would not investigate. Panel beaters quote is $790-+. Front bull bar would maybe have stopped that much damage.
As for fools driving through give ways and stop signs. I have so much dash cam footage of near misses.
Again, thanks for all your advise.

I call them Highrollers for a reason . Going back 20 odd years i would drive past Lineside Automotive and seeing them stacked higher than the fence . Not the North Island but they would no doubt have what you want . Looks like they have changed names . LINESIDE 4X4 AND JUST CRUISERS HAVE REBRANDED INTO TOYCOMM
Have a look on facecrack also .

Thanks Tim. Checked out this business site.
They said there is no product to suit my truck. To old maybe.
Theres a place in Palmy called Powerful 4X4.
Imports after market bull bars from China but only for 2005 up.
Look good but really fragile though.

It is my understanding because they muck up / interfere with the air bag and crumple zone stuff for the vehicle, after market bull bars have to be an approved / compliant design and attachment method / points have to be approved. also I think it is not a DIY job.
I would assume that there is already an approved designs / manufacturers of bull bars suitable for your vehicle, so I would think it would be an expensive exercise given it needs to be an approved installer also.

p.s. if you are having trouble searching on the net for bars / suppliers. try HILUX not HYLUX ! (this search tip is bought to you by a member of dyslexia NZ ! )
