Yep, cause we want everything "NOW", we have turned into an impatient lot.

frytime, Sep 7, 5:01pm
so they can sleep at night! lol

slow trucks should be banned from the outside lane, middle lane is ok because left lane quite often ends in a off ramp

snork28, Sep 7, 5:17pm
i hate driving in the right hand lane or fast lane as it were and even more so when im forced to like exiting the nth western @ entering the southern southbound in aucks.

superdave0_13, Sep 7, 5:19pm
No need for the personal abuse and I never said all trucks. Maybe if you spent a little bit more time at school learning to read and write properly you wouldn't be driving one for a living.

philltauranga, Sep 7, 5:31pm
Ok you got me really sorry for the personal insult I should have finished my post before the last sentance.

pieman33h, Sep 7, 6:54pm
everything goes on a truck. anyone who thinks its easy is more than welcome to come and spend a day in the left seat of my truck. I guarantee you will come away with a new appreciation for the job we do, every day.

It seems Dave should have finished his post before his last sentence too.just an observation from a smallish truck driver who keeps to the left.

philltauranga, Sep 7, 7:44pm
Haha just proof read my post, looks like I could do with some writing lessons---- I / It,--- there / their ---- every thing / everythingand the rest plus add a few of these,,,, .SHAME!

mantagsi, Sep 7, 7:53pm
+1 absolutely agree! I travel from Pukekohe via either Bombay or Drury onramp, to mt wellington, then back again at the end of the day. Been doing this day in day out for a few years now, and asides from the usual muppets in small lightbody runabout trucks, I've never encountered a badly behaved truckie. They are all courteous and friendly, so I try and do my bit and let a truck in if he/she needs to change lanes, and hey, karma must work! Go the truckies

74nova, Sep 7, 8:06pm
Yes and it should be legal to shoot the ignorant pricks that sit there when there's nothing in front of them.

johnf_456, Sep 7, 8:09pm
shoot them over a traffic matter lol!

kevymtnz, Sep 7, 8:35pm
in peak times on the Syd - Newcastle freeway it is faster in the middle or left lane

clanky, Sep 8, 6:42am
Jeez, truckies tend to be among the best drivers on the roads. It's the morons hogging the middle lne that cause most of the problems, imho. I travelled on the southern motorway last Friday night and I'm sure some of the people on the road had forgotten where they lived during their day at work. Pootling along in the 3rd lane at 60 kph (because it's not far to my turnoff, nust be around here somewhere) and hen realising that f@$k, it's just over there on the left, must move across NOW, slowing or stopping all the traffic and really frustrating every other driver on the motorway. Trucks should be limited to the first 2 lanes on any road, all state highways should be 2 lanes in each direction and Kiwi drivers should learn how to drive, not point and steer.

Why so, net!

Works in Europe - NO truck is permitted in the 'outside/fast/overtaking' lane.

What is more - they are extremely courteous, they cruise in the inside/nearside lane, overtake in the middle, then, the truck being overtaken flashes them when the rear of the overtaker is clear and it is safe to pull back into the nearside lane.

exactly.from the milk you put in your coffee, to the concrete path you walk down to get to your mail. EVERYTHING you see around you, apart from people, has been on a truck at some point in its life.you're right pieman, i wish that people could come for a ride, then they'd see that we're not school drop-outs or dummies with no other option for work.

car drivers towing trailers need to learn/remember, that THEIR speed limit is 90. just like trucks.

lookoutas, Sep 8, 3:47pm
The heading should be:

'Dickhead drivers should be banned from the out side lane'

big.b-lil.c, Sep 8, 4:00pm
i find this amusing i own two linehaul units, each cost around half a million dollars 2 weeks ago i put a new semi trailer on the road it cost $193,000 i paid cash for it. i own several properties and have a income in the top 2% in new zealand. how do you figure staying at school would have helped me!
but back on topic why not ban cars from the right lane and leave it for trucks unless the truck is entering or leaving the motorway, it would have more of a economic benefit than banning them.

philltauranga, Sep 8, 4:26pm
Well my post was a insult directed at you for posting such a stupid comment, but it looks like the insult you returned to me ( after saying there was no need for insults ) has been taken to heart buy other truckers aswell, implying we are to dumb to do any thing elce. For the record I finished 7th form at school and have the following licences 1,2,3,4,5,6,f,t,w,r,dg, certified wide load piliot, certified traffic control and Bridge Engineering Self Supervision (for overweight loads) which is a NZQA unit standard and not a qualification any old truckie can get, there are very specific requirements to obtain it. I have been a farmer, diesel mechanic, engineering draughts'man, but I wouldnt trade heavy haulage to return to any of them, I love this job the pay is way better, nearly 100k pa I wouldnt get that doing any other job I did, and its way more challenging and enjoyable. So dont be fooled by the typos in my posts Im not the brightist star but I wasnt beaten with the stupid stick either. And Im well aware you didnt say ALL trucks but the fact that the ones over a certain size shift the bulk of the freight, makes my previous post relevant.

deflatedpumpkin, Sep 8, 4:37pm
maybe superdave is just secretly envious that he couldn't begin to find his way round a roadranger, and has to get his wife to back the trailer in at the dump ;)

snork28, Sep 8, 4:37pm
Maybe if you spent a little bit more time at school learning to read and write properly you wouldn't be driving one for a living.///was going to reply to that statement earlier but thought no; thats something that a spoiled little brat would say just trying to get to you so i wouldn:t waste my time, well done #44 im willing to bet he has no smartarse reply for your achievements.

superdave0_13, Sep 8, 5:46pm
Yes I posted my response to philltauranga with the full intention of giving him a little poke with a stick. I didn't think I could catch so many fish with just one hook.

I would like big.b-lil.c to substantiate his claim but I can't see that happening.

deflatedpumpkin, Sep 8, 6:01pm
you disguise your statement as being a bit of a joke now, because you've been put in your place a bit.
why, do you not belive the costs involved in owning trucks! do you think he's throwing around big numbers just to sound impressive! i can assure you, when it comes to the cost of big trucks, it's no bullsh!t, or do you not believe that he could possibly have made a good living for himself when he's just some "dumb truck driver"

philltauranga, Sep 8, 6:17pm
Yip BIG costs in trucking and fcuk all profit. My truck Kenworth t904 $350,000, Load divider dolly $90,000, 3rows 8 tires deck widener trailer $300,000 and say Im transporting a brand new big digger for a customer$600,000 so total on highway cost $1,340,000m. So yea he is throwing big numbers around with purchase prices, but fact is most new trucks WILL set you back half a mill, and if they are a specalist truck such as heavy haulage, house mover, LPG tanker ect then purchase costs are alot more. Then there is the load and the cost of that to the customer can also be alot, say 30,000 litres of LPG, petrol or milk.

what the roadcode no longer applies to car drivers either i always thought the law was (as i have pointed out to *555 more than once) remain left at all time unless overtaking and got told "yeh but its 4 lanes" so i pointed i didnt care left is left i dont care if its a f k n 20 lane motorway
