Can't really see any reason why trucks travel in the far right lane, especially when there's 3 lanes.

Except to pass slower trucks in the inside lanes! It would be more productive if the law was changed so that the outside lane on our motorways was a genuine passing lane, as it is in every other country I know of.

Yes.
Trucks should be compelled legislatively to use the inside (left-hand) lane for travel, and the centre lane for overtaking only.
This simple move would immediately free up about 20% of m/way capacity.

Trucks over a certain size shouldn't be allowed on the road during 7am-7pm. How much money would that save!

CRAP

40% at least.

How/why would that help!

Most of those trucks are more courteous and travel faster than dorklanders. Once they get in a lane they tend to stick to it to thanks to wanks that will pull up beside them trying to undertake when they change back lanes.
How about we just ban the stupid! Or lest leave them to suffer fate without a huge courtcase to find someone else to blame.

None. But freight costs would go up.

Yep, and loopy's in cars shouldn't be allowed on the road the other 12 hours. Would make driving alot more stress free. Not having to try and workout what the halfwit is going to do

When did New Zealand have Motorways with 3 lanes !

MasterDrive Services teach truckies to use the middle lane on a 3 lane road. Any other time they should be in the left lane. Unless overtaking of course
crzyhrse,
Sep 7, 11:17am
That's the right places for them in both circumstances.

i never really have any problem with truck drivers, the other idiot car drivers annoy me far more then trucks ever have.

I disagree as with any vehicle on the road being courteous and keeping left goes a long way for drive aggression levels.Be polite let others pass, especially when towing and you have to drive below the speed of everyone else.

Worst is truck overtaking SLIGHTLY slower truck and holding up the whole blardy passing lane to the end
richardmayes,
Sep 7, 11:41am
Jesus, it's not often I agree 100% with something Scotty says.
It's slow-moving CARS floating along in the middle lane that are the problem.
It's only once in a blue moon (if that) you see a truck out there holding everything up.

But on multi-lane roads, why does it matter what lane people are in! If you're faster than them, just move to another lane and pass them
bashfulbro,
Sep 7, 11:54am
contrary to some driver`s belief, HMV`s are actually required by law ,when traveling on multi lane roads, to keep in the left lane, except when passing a slower vehicle.

i always stay in the middle lane when on motorways, that way i have two escape routes if or when there is a problem ahead, other traffic always pull into our stopping area like right on the front bumper compleatley oblivious to what the consequences might be if forced to suddenly stop, hence the reasoning.
crzyhrse,
Sep 7, 4:38pm
It matters because if they're going the same speed as other vehicles they should be in that lane with them!
crzyhrse,
Sep 7, 4:39pm
Me too. Plus it's the considerate thing to do.

What makes you think that! We've slowly got our head around the 7 day week, Now it's time for the 24hr day.

not practical at all. you do know there's a reason why big trucks are on the road during the day ay.

I wouldnt save you anything because everything delivered by a druck would double in transport costs. Look around your house and try and count what could NOT have been on a truck at some point, remember to inclue things delevered to the manufacturer by truck. NOTHING AYE every thing execpt babies is deleviered buy a TRUCK so now double the transport cost and add that to purchase price. It would cost you way more for everything way more than the gas and time saving having no trucks on road between 7-7. At least 50% of trucks are double shifted as well, not to mention who will drive the nightshift only, who will deliver construction materials to your new house at 12am and p1ss the neigbours off. Your post ozzes with so much thought and inteligence I would half expect you to reply with some retarded answer like why dont we ban trucks alltogether or build them there own roads to drive on. uummm duh.
