The old Rovers of the early 70's with the 3500cc V8 were very reliable. It has all been downhill from then.

The rot set in at Rover when it was absorbed by British Leyland's evil empire.
Had it stayed independent, there was a chance that Rover could have become the UK's equivalent of BMW.
