Title says it. Yes okae i was speeding i normally cruise at 55 on my speedo wherever i drive no biggy. Yes i was caught outside a school. What i want to know is there anyway i can get off the ticket for speedo inaccuracy or something like that! The school is on the street i live on and I always drive at 50kph past this school as there are actually 2 schools next to eachother.

Im pretty pissed off about it actually. even if i was doing 56kph. thats a bit bloody harsh, as 1kph less and they couldnt fine me, and whos to say i was doing 56kph! it could have been 55.6kph which would round up to 56.

Yes im being picky. Guess im blowing off steam for being done for something so pathetically minor.

jsbike, Sep 24, 2:35pm
actually they can fine you at ANY speed ofer the posted limit, even 1kph.

tigertim20, Sep 24, 2:36pm
get over it, and just pay the $80 or so. It was outside a scool. stop being a whinging little girl.

skyline_guy_r34, Sep 24, 2:36pm
then why does it say 6-10kph over the limit is $30. But no price for the range of 1-5kph over the limit!

chevcamaro, Sep 24, 2:37pm

rotaboy86, Sep 24, 2:39pm

chippy_45, Sep 24, 2:53pm
i reckon, dont complain how would you feel if your kid goes to that school an was hit by someone doing 56kmph youd hope they got punished too. the rules are there for childrens safety not just to be a cnt about things

jsbike, Sep 24, 2:58pm
no idea. all I know is there is 0 tolerance outside schools, so pay up.

feddi, Sep 24, 3:11pm
I just got caught doing 73km in 50km zone YIKES! Was on the way to Ruapehu and I didnt even see the camera or know I was speeding in a 50km zone.

moosie_21, Sep 24, 3:37pm
No, why do people assume this automatically!!!! Unless it's posted as 40km/h, it's the usual speed limit. Stupid myths!

ashwattau, Sep 24, 3:38pm
only when the flashing 40km/hr signs are active. otherwise it's a standard 50 with zero police tolerance for speeding.

johnf_456, Sep 24, 3:39pm
Schools have a lower tolerance, be a man admit you were wrong and pay up.

johnf_456, Sep 24, 3:41pm
Obviously weren't watching the road signs to see what the current speed limit was. If you miss things like that and drive through a township at those speeds crikey.

feddi, Sep 24, 3:44pm
I know! I was shocked when it came cos I do speed on open roads but am very good in 50km zones etc. Expected it to be on the highway but eeekkkkk.

carmedic, Sep 24, 3:58pm
Zero tolerance mate, they have targets to meet.
I??

matarautrader, Sep 24, 4:54pm
I got ticketed for 56k in a 50k zone about two months after speed cameras were introduced. That must have been about 17 yrs ago. I was in my 55 Chev and because I was a zone director at that time it graced the walls of the NZHRA for some time!

pollymay, Sep 24, 5:03pm
I'm not a big fan of cameras. I got pinged for 85 in a 70 by one when I had no speedo, the cable snapped about 5 minutes before but there was no way to prove that I hadn't just disconnected it to get off and it was a huge empty road and I thought I'd backed way off from highway speeds. They parked outside my house once to and the guy in the van was a prick to.

kimmy01, Sep 24, 7:28pm
Gees.the excuses in here!OMG

johnf_456, Sep 24, 7:54pm
^Man tell me about it, you commit the offensive you do the punishment associated with it simple. Seems to be a lot of people moaning they got caught, they only have themselves to blame.

twink19, Sep 24, 8:19pm
its called revenue gathering,, or tax

i-n-horz, Sep 24, 9:06pm
Brain, eye, foot co-ordination and if that don't work get ya speedometer checked and adjusted.it'll work out to be the cheaper option in the long run.

pollymay, Sep 24, 9:40pm
And for the ones saying it is to protect the kids there is a fine line between protect and being harsh. I've been pulled up by a REAL cop not a camera outside a school for being just over and after having a word saying watch out aye! he let me go and I appreciated it, got the message slowed down. On the way back he radared me with 30 kids watching and I was sitting on 45clicks and he just waved, am quite happy to drop some speed for someone not out to get me but rather doing his job, it stays in your mind.

Cameras are impersonal and often won't teach a lesson as much. Besides I've been past schools and had kids throw stuff at my car and try jump on the car to show off and nothing gets done and imagine if they did get run over, it would be a legal nightmare and nothing to do with speed. They however do not get fined for stupidity even if it is just as dangerous so it's all relative that people get ticked off for being pinged at 56 if they legitimately didn't know their speedo was out or something that amounts to being very close to 50clicks anyway.
