I've heard that by the time it's done right, including replacing rain rail and cables, that there's 6-8 hours labour doing the job.$1400 might be expensive, but I doubt it's a complete rip-off. Before importing a soft top from the US, it may pay to search miata.net forums, and/or ask questions. There are certainly some tops being sold over there on Ebay etc. of very dubious quality, plus UV exposure conditions in NZ are very severe - on a par with Florida.I was in contact with a maker of quality tops in Boston with view to bringing in half a dozen, one for me, selling the rest on TradeMe, and perhaps even setting up to do installs. But my gut feeling in the end was that it was going to be a can of worms, many people with older MX5s needing new roofs would want everything for nothing, and more discerning customers would be very very fussy.
