So a dinosaur V8 is only 2s slower! Now make it 1240Kg, have a 7500rpm limit on the Dunlop control tyre and see how fast it goes.

Dinosaw V8 with probably 5-10 times the value of 1 of those cars spent on it!

Lol @ retards.
Its only a GT3 car.
It weighs more and has less power than a V8Supercar.
It also costs about the same.
beblowin,

and our point is there 2 differentclasses of cars.

the comments about cost are bit off the mark.i bet that car costs more than a v8 supercar to build. i remember back in about '02 one of the "production" car guys saying they were going back to V8's because it was cheaper to run.

How fast did those gtr skylines and ford cosworths go round bathhurst !
foxdonut,

Nowhere near as fast as the current V8SC's.

Qualifying times were around 2:12-13 I think. Current v8s are doing 2:06-07.

Last time a R32 GTR Skyline was at the Taxi track in ozzie.(bathurst) they were doing over 320Kph down conrod.
Rumor was Holden cried . as remember they didnt just lose, they were lapped about 5 times.
Since Holden ozzie was in bed with Nissan at the time, you think they could have worked it out. Remember Nissan motors in dunnydores, somethingabout the 5 speeds too , but carnt remember what the guts was on that.
If the Skylines were so fast, how is it that the lap record (race) is held by Skaife 2.14.50!

They were lapping in the 2:12's and the Gibson motorsport GTR's cost about the same to build then as the current V8's. Many thanks to tobacco sponsorship.
The Gtr's never won by 5laps. But don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Get your facts right, they weren't doing over 320kph but under 300kph.In 1991 Holden was 2nd with Win Percy driving & 1 lap behind & in 1992 Win was 5th 2 laps down.Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Maybe you are confused with Brock in the Torana winning by 6laps in 1979 and setting the race lap record on the last lap.
This thread kinda shows why the Aussie touring cars has lost interest for a lot of people, back in the days of Sierras , skylines bimmers etc , it was bloody interesting, now it is a procession of holden/ford lookalikes, bring back the good old days ( wait for the.' it would kill the car industry in Oz, having the jappers and euro cars beating the crap outa the 2 incumbents), will never happen .

would love to see what the sierra sierra time attack evo can do it in. that thing is a weapon

Explain then why it is still growing i.e Going to the States in 2013,if it was unsuccessful it wouldn't be commercially viable & fold.Perhaps the "lost interest for a lot of people" is just you.Its is called Aussie v8 Supercars for a reason or has that gone over your head, you are more than welcome to watch the Euro & Jap shit racing in their own home series.
foxdonut,

Its FIA racing now. You can't have "whatever cars you like" in regulated competition.
GET OVER IT.

I love watching most forms of motor racing.
But this thread just reminded me why I never discuss it with motorsport people.

Why! Each region has it's own series with cars originating from there. maybe you should read the rules re eligibility to V8 supercars! Gone are the days of group A or C. I like Aussie muscle but have no interest in the series as they are do far removed from road goin models.
