have noticed.mention 'Bathurst' or V8 Supercars on the TM motoring msg board and it brings out all the 'tards who think they know all. Whereas these same kiddies should be arguing PS3 v Xbox, know what I mean!

don't forget that the GTR's were carrying HUGE amounts of weight to slow them down .at least 60kg and even more if i remember correctly

Ferrari 458 GT3 only weighs 1100kgs.

Hooray ! , at least it looks different to those 2 (or is it the same car now , they look so similar) , now can we just somehow sneak it in to the races (weigh it down / repower it / whatever to slow it if you really want) to just allow for some bl**dy variety ! One more vote from me for the return to something like "grp A" . How people find these current cars , which are now totally unlike anything you will by from your Ford/Holden dealer exciting is beyond me. It's no better than F1 now , just slower.
Developed specifically for racing, the Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 is a very different animal from the roadgoing 458 Italia. For starters, you can't drive it on the road and at 1214kg, it has a kerb mass a whopping 166kg lighter than the standard

If you guys are so bored with the v8s then why do you watch or comment about them! Seems pretty sad.

I guess forums do attract the negative or constructive side (most will not post comments if happy with things) but personally I remember how much I enjoyed seeing all different sized / speed / looking cars that I could actually relate to . And then spot a similar (same body work) road-going version on a street.

I like watching the v8s, And I also liked watching the skylines, sierras and bmw race with the v8s.It would be great if they go back to that,

Yeah but at least allow them to unrestrict the v8s and put there big horsepower motors then the skylines will get their arses whipped. imagine a Pushrod twin turbo LSX V8 putting in excess of 2000hp and 1500 ft lbs torque. But it wont happen. The aussies dont want that jap shit on their tracks

Would be interesting to see JGTC type Jappers racing against the V8SCs.

yup unrestricted V8 racing would be awesome, just like having an Olympic games just for drug users. see what real potential you can get out of motors/legs

I lke motor racing, have done for longer than I care to say, but I do not like one make racing, 2 make racing is worse. Rules, and restrictions spoil racing, penalties and compulsory stops reduce racing to a mindless mess. Lets get racing back without senseless regs.

I agree Bill, but that open class racing just leads to the team with the biggest budget winning. I like production racing as bathurst used to be, but thats not what the majority of paying fans want. they tried going back to that format and lost the fans, they tried the euro touring car format and lost more fans. this setup earns them hundreds of millions and untill the fan base ssarts dropping off they wont change in. id like to see it opened up to other makes of cars AS LONG as the retained similar engine specs.

Therein lies the problem since outside of chev and ford a 5.0 fuel injected motor is pretty rare for race application.
Luckily the V8SC cars aren't actually "cars" anymore and a motor and some fibreglass over the custom made chassis would lend itself to a "Toyota" or "BMW" shell.
At the end of the day though, would any marque _really_ draw in more fans! The ricers are going to say "pushrods lol" and go back to their ancient old fashion inline six turbo's from 30 years ago and the Euro fanboys aren't going to want to see retards like Murphy or Bowe smashing cars into each other for position over a CLS or M3.
People who want mixed category still have Le Mans, Nations Cup, GT500, GT3 etc. The Holden Ford thing is what the audience wants and understands, we don't live in especially sophisticated countries. Kiwi's don't like things that cost money and Australians are cave people - the Falcodore racing is square in the demographic.
