There was a guy pretending to be a motorcycle cop in Auckland in the 80's pulling over cars. He was dressed in cop gear, bike done up with shield, panniers and lights, and had a dummy ticket book. Not sure if they got him in the end.

Problem is you don't know WHY they are flashing you, I've had the car pissing fuel from the burst line before and I was blissfully unaware cause it was a return line. I'd like to think people have a good reason to flag you down, however every time I have it has been a numb nuts to tell me I drive too far on the left or that they didn't think 4 load binders, 2 chains and a winch rope was enough to hold an small car on the trailer and it looked like it was about to fall off.
There are so many tools on the road that I tend to just pass it by and burn them off. It's a waste of my time to spend a further second being lectured by people with not a single clue.

Nope, cant have been johnnyboy johnathon_f_88739754699would have checked the wof, rego and tyres while he was at it.
I'd prob stop just to make sure I hadn't left the baby on the roof. Another reason would be to stop the tosser following me to my workplace or home. He could be some crazed homosexual infatuated by my good looks, and I don't need him peeking in my toilet window and fapping as I pinch off a loaf.

Changing a tyre should be part of your learner's licence. My dad taught me how to change one when he started teaching me to drive. It's so easy.

haha got my first warning. Apparantly somebody complained about my use of the word F4CKWIT. I was referring to the driver who pulled OP over.
funny how plenty of people writ Fark off, and do not get a warning, but I spelt it correctly and boom, msg deleted and warning issued. I cant help but think no-one actually complained, but rather TM must have software that scans the MSG boards for swear words.

Yeah, but once if you're curious and stop, once you know the reason, you can just leave.

You would be right, they do have software that scans for swear words and email addresses & telephone numbers.

yes, well it gets worse. You will probably get another warning for your above post. . I got a warning for using a swear word hidden by asterixes. I told trademe staff that there are tons of swear words on trademe how come I get hassled for hiding the swear word so it cant be seen. Apparentlytrying to hide a swear word doesnt matter. Its still swearing because people know what you mean. So there is a very good chance you are going to get another warning, about the swear words you have in your post I have quoted. all it takes is for some one to take a disliking to you and report it.Yep, its nothing about whether you have done something wrong or not, its all about whether some one wants to target you for some reason and start reporting your posts.crazy eh.

I got banned for quoting some tossers post in 'sports'. My comment was along the lines of 'nice language' below his amazing rant, and I was the one who got the flick.!
I also got a warning for using the word 'retard' recently which seemed unfair as the bloke in question was definitely not the full quid.

Elvis Presley had a reputation for getting drugged up and pulling people over to give them a ticking off about their driving??

It depends on what you meant when you said you "merged".
Did you build up to full speed on the on-ramp, and then merge into the lane at least two seconds ahead of him!
Or did you float down the on ramp at 68km/h like a nana and then just push into the lane two metres ahead of him without indicating!
(It makes a difference to the rights & wrongs in this story.)
eagles9999,
Nov 25, 1:26pm
Or did you simply cut straight across 2 lanes as is common in Auck.!

What the OP did or did not do is not relevant, it is the actions of the clown that stopped him that are relevant, the guy is potentially some sort of fruit cake !
There have been various other scenarios covered that are relevant, such as fuel pouring from vehicles, drivers oblivious to flats etc, but for what is perceived to be a driving indiscretion, no no no no no, as the potential is there for the situation to get very interesting indeed, depending on the mentality of those involved.

I have done this often in my black Holden and I wear a blue business shirt and have my old military hair cat too.If some does wrong and you are indicating to them to pull over and you choose to stop it is 100% legal. The debat is that every one thinks their are good drivers when one sees the NZ stats it is clealy not the case.I was in law enforcement for many years and also lived in Germany for a few years where proper driving licenses are held so talk from experience. More people should do this to help build a better community and help the Police. Taking the rego is of no help as nothing occured other then an alleged incorrect merge. Maybe you merged too soon instead of runnning out the full length of the merge lane as one is supposed too! This a bad habit here in NZ!

yep, no consistency with the mods and they dont care either.

I indicated in plenty of time to merge and driver decided to speed up to get in front of me. I sped up also to 100K's and merged in front of him as cars were behind him and I was running out of lane. I ended up pulling in front of him a little closer than I usually would, so sped up slightly again, to maintain distance. When he flashed his lights twice and put his indicator on, I thought he was an off duty cop, so stopped. Interestingly, he got out and went into a question and answer routine with me, as a police officer would. Only at the end, did he say he was a 'member of the public'. It is wasn't a motorway, I wouldn't be so concerned about it.If he wants to pull up people of the motorway, he should first go to police college for 9 months.

Oh, right. So he's a Holden driver then.

Go to the post office , pay $2 to find out were he lives (via his rego plate) Ring up the local jehovah's witness's in his area and invite them round for a cuppa.
