Oxy LPG is good for brazing. You can't fusion weld with it.
Gas cutting with Oxy LPG is slower you need to preheat a bit longer, but just as effective for gas cutting as oxy acetylene unless you are cutting really big stuff. For home use you would struggle to notice the difference. Tips dont seem to soot up so fast either. However you do need specialised LPG tips not acetylene ones.

I thought they were owned by the Lindie Group!

Yep,
Oxy/Lpg = >>>>
General heating
Cutting
Soldering
Light bending
Panel steel fabrication with mostly brazing.

Tthere are a few little traps in comparison to oxy/acet such as,
Longer to preheat = can warp panels more
Not forgiving of loss of tracking while cutting = looses heat fast & have to preheat again before resuming cutting
Slow brazing because of the longer preheat & problems same as plate cutting.
Proper Lpg/oxy tips DO help
Higher oxy usage because of longer preheating
Still cuts clean & is generally a reasonable amount cheaper overall

Summery is = if you are in a hurry. DON'T use lpg

What's wrong with the Bretherens! I am certainly not one nor am I religious in any way at all but I can tell you one fact - i'd rather do business with a Bretheren than anyone else here in NZ. Their word is their honour and us non-Bretherens could learn a lot about integrity and honesty from them.

Cutting!

What can you cut with LPG!1.2mm sheet!

franc123, Dec 20, 5:54am
LMAO, who would use any sort of gas to cut sheet steel these days, especially car panels lol, you either use a pneumatic body saw or a plasma cutter for doing that.

Got my Acet DX bottle back from the fillers in Hamilton today cost $120.50
maybe some freight in that.

owene, Dec 20, 6:55am
Yep thats what I mean. Any cutting with gas I do is over 10mm as I have a plasma for <10mm. But LPG won't cut sfa.

Rubbish

mrfxit, Dec 21, 5:58am
Bollocks,
Was using lpg/oxy for about a year & what I experienced was what I posted above & THAT was with std acet/oxy gear running Lpg.
Would have been a lot better with the proper tips/gaiges etc.

Southern gas at Rolleston are very reasonable

If you can read, go see posting #16

Don't know the specific's but it will be partly company reg's to avoid filling each others bottles & OSH /Acc regs to insure any accidents get blamed on the TRUE owners & fillers of the bottle.

drew2009, Dec 21, 9:44pm
Yup bollocks mate. I have used Oxy/LPG for cutting huge structural beams no sweat.

drew2009, Dec 21, 9:45pm
Can you use Acetylene gauges on an LPG bottle! Do they just thread straight on!

mrfxit, Dec 21, 9:49pm
Std flammable gas's thread is left handed & yes the 2 are the same size.
Std Acet gauge & welding/cutting tips aren't as good as proper lpg gear but is reasonably usable

Oh ok sweet thats good to know. Thanks mate merry xmas.
