Bloody hell, all those cars are racing as standard and on crossplies as well. What a mission that would have been. Well. If they had radials they were razor blades.

Kerry had two A40s at different times. The first one he developed with considerable help from my brother - they would test-drive it in the middle of the night out the back of the Palmerton North airport. It was, according to my photo archive, light grey with a black roof. It was astonishingly fast, much more so than my boss-at-the-time Bruce Watt in his blue one.
Kerry's second A40 was black, having been stripped of all excess weight. I watched him with it on the hoist as he carefully stripped off the underseal! This car, according to the wisdom of the time, produced more 'horses' than BMC's own Sebring Sprites.
