Cops have asked us to do some impound storage, but going by the backwards capped, baggy arses that speak txt language, who come in looking for the current storage down the road coz they want gears out of their car. We chose to say "No". Had a talk with the guy that does the storage at an MTA dinner one night, and he sez you can guarantee that every battery is flat when they come to pick up their car, and they just about all accuse him of swapping them. Along with any other defects they can dream up, like dents, scratches etc. He stores them out the back in a hi-fenced area, but they're always jumping in and pilfering their gear, even stereos, then accusing him. So he tells them to go and see the cops as well as ask their mates.
On the subject:- ABS wont stop a car from breaking the wheels loose, and if its fitted with traction control (on), it would be very unlikely to lay a patch good enough to warrant a ticket.

when my car was put in the truck, i took out all the valuable stuff, like headunit and SUB. me and some mates took pictures of the car before it was put on, incase it does get damaged, and also recorded how much gas it had and how many kays it had done. hope they dont take the battery, as it is a expesive 660cca century battery. and wen i did put my foot down, traction light came on dash and felt it lock up the spinning wheel. lets just see what happens at court, it my first time to court, and only 4th offence in 3 and a half years, last offence was april 2009.

Hmm--Op that sounds like extrodinary lenths for someone with no experience of this sort of situation.

We take all those pics to cover our butts from being shafted. And believe me, they have been needed.
So you have got TC - in which case it should only spin for less than half a second. (if it was on)

I'm not refering to YOU or any storage facility . I'm refering to the OP. They apear to be trying to paint a picture of total innnocence but seem to know the "tricks of the trade". I've "lost traction" on a few occasions. Probably the most memerable being at traffic lights alongside two traffic patrol cars. It was in the wet in a jeep cherokee 4.0l petrol . Funnilly enough I diddn'tget "hassled by the pigs' and the vehicle wasn't impounded.

With you here Kazbanz, like the young fellow at a panel shop I supply. Green Supra, modded etc. "the cops pick on me!" In the next breath bragging to his mates on how well this thing could smoke it's tyres. Ended up impounded, and he lost his licence. "It's not fair!"

It appears the tow truck company is not obeying the law (the 1999 regulations which have only been changed by the increase in GST) and they state exactly how much the towies are allowed to charge. Please, ask the tow truck company to state exactly how they arrive at their figure - They should tell you: Towage cost $ ! plus ! extra km's @ $ !per km plus storage at $for ! days = $460. Then we can work out where they are breaking the law and you can make a formal complaint to the police (there will be one police sargent in charge of impounding for your area and he will be the one to speak to).
I had to complain to sargeant Britnol of Counties Manukau about the overcharging. He is now fully aware.Perhaps you could send him a letter (a copy of your invoice). He can then add it to the pile.

28 days X $12 per day, + salvage, X GST. What makes you think $460 is too high!
trouser,
Jan 5, 6:45am
25 days as you get 3 free.

I offer a simple solution to your and the OP's problem-- DONT GET YA CAR IMPOUNDED. A public service message bought to you by.

they have been 4 different offences, speeding, 112kms in a 100 area, excessive noise from a vehicle, that was partners fault, she paid for it. this current offence of S L of T, and dangerous driving. (trailer was not mine but was damaged, so wen it went over 70kms it wud fish tail. which caused me to crash into a tree, no1 else involved.) i think is a very good clean record compared to most 19 yearold these days.

Geez, I think my slate was clean at 19, and now coming up 22 it has two speed tickets for like 10km/h over the limit each time

What are you smoking! Lucky you can still drive.

if you had friends with you summons them to court and have them swear you didnt wheel spin and they saw the traction control light on. get your mechanic to write a letter and have it signed by a jp stating the traction control works and a description of what it does. get documentation that proves your vehicle has traction control, plenty on the net. take photos of the tyres and inner guards showing no burnt off rubber do this before it leaves impound make sure the photos show the background. take weather information, the met service has it. and get a lawyer not the court appointed one. prove yourself innocent and pay nothing, apart from the lawyer.

OR.Admit you spun it up in the wet and accept the consequences, that you were fully aware of. I see two of the other problems you had were also not your fault. Nice one blaming the missus, and if the trailer was damaged you shouldn't have been towing it, or you should tow it at an appropriate speed to get it somewhere for repair. We all did silly sh1t when we were young but its how you learn and mature. Now you have a $400 lesson, try and learn from it.
