Probably not, unless you can come up with a really origional hard luck story.

Why should you get off the fine!.

No. How can you not realise you have no wof for 2 months!

consider yourself lucky. you could have been involved in an accident and have your insurance co not pay out due to not having a current WOF. 2 weeks maybe. but 2 months is quite an over-sight.

quite easily, when your car is reliable and used often and you are a busy person, its often one of the last things you look at.

Thanks. It would be nice (just saying) if wof reminders were sent out like rego ones are.

Yep, if you get a wof within 7 days, then just send the proof in the mail with the fine.

I agree, this could even be an email service. Given its all logged online now it would cost the Govt nothing to do after the modest initial cost to set it up. The potential saving and safety advantage to the taxpayer would be huge.

most workshops who want repeat customers will let you know your WOF is due a few weeks before hand.

Ive had warrent reminders for years even before email ones became trendy. 2 cars one trailer and bike when I had it. And from different garages.

Every place I've ever got a WoF from has issued reminders.even the ones I've used as a one-off and they knew it.

The garage we go to must of had to many customers as they stopped sending out reminders.

Some people don't. Just like some people don't notice tickets under wipers. But yeah it happens, can't say I have forgotten but yeah.
Good luck getting off it, write it and you never know your luck until you try. Go for it.

" My wife came back from he swim to find it on the windscreen"
What sex is your wife,Terrible spelling.

If it was not a safety factor with the car then I believe they cannot decline a claim for no WOF. I don't know details because I thankfully have not been in such a situation but someone may know more. It is in legislation as far as I am aware.

It doesn't work like that. One has to pay and one has to.

Such an act is prohibited by law (the insurance law reform act), but it is a persistent old wives tale.
Equally havinga current WOF is not a get out of jail free card if for example your bald tyres caused you to spin out in the rain you don't get to say "but I had a WOF!".
Similarly, driving your vehicle without a current licence label (rego) does not void your insurance.Same for RUC.

You seem to know and awful lot about sucking pal.
nightsky1,

Especialy for a watch repairer, seems Troge doesnt know what time of day it is, let alone what month it is.
