oh so you are an angel make sure you drive to the conditions and also never speed! all of those factors can cause your car to be "unsafe"dont nail people to a bloody pole just because they have lives that they attend to and sometimes forget to find out abotu this stuff, atleased he isnt running around saying "I got a fine but i dont believe in the system' or completely ignores the system, and then bitches about it when it does catch him out, No he is prompt and aware that he had done wrong, and is questioning whether he is able to be let off the fine now that he has corrected the problem, I just hate it when people sweep others under the same rug with the rest because they are too single minded about things

Dead right .I always say it's the owners responsibility ultimately for the condition of the vehicle and it's status AT ALL TIMES. How many do I hear and read about winging and whining and passing the buck if something goes wrong eh.I'm bloody sick of hearing all the lame excuses. It's ultimately the owners/driversresponsibility FULL STOP right there end of story nuff said ! The reason all the regulatory bodies are there is to make sure folks actually get & keep their vehicles up to scratch and in a legal state, if not TOUGH TITTY and the same goes if you get caught.simple as that.

Best you can do, pay NOW, send a note saying, maybe, you don't use the car often, or you were on the way to get WOF; or your wife tiold you she had paid (or some tale or other) and you might get off, I did.In any case, if you get off it's a lotto win, if you don't you got caught, too bad pay it and move on, it's a New Year,,,,,,.
geedubu,

By pay now, I mean go and get a WOF now.

If the fine was issued by the Supercity council, then you are pretty much screwed. Wife got a no rego fine, went straight away to get a new 12 month rego and we sentletter explaining the oversight. We had moved house and thought we had notified all parties, but missed LTSA somehow it would appear. Supercity returned a form letter which basically said pay it end of story.

Having a current WoF has nothing to do with insurance unless a specific fault that would have prevented you from obtaining a WoF was a significant contributing factor.

Yeah thunderbolt, next trick is to send another letter back to them, they soon run out of puff & you are home free.

When it's issued by Auckland Transport posting anything to Wellington won't do a thing except cost you postage.

I was never after sympathy on this. We both missed seeing it was overdue - it's my wife and my fault. I note regos and wofs on my yearplanner but didn't put that one on.

Just the usual attitude in this forum - it was clear from your first post you weren't after sympathy yet most here assume you are here to get somebody on your side or to pick a fight. Amicable discussion is beyond the grasp of most users.

been there done that. Just plain forgot all about it. all you can really do is get a wof, write in and explain and hope. Worth a shot. You never know. Some how I think you're screwed with it being so over due though. Good luck trog.

Yip not after sympathy, just trying to find away to weasel out of paying a fine.No W.O.F that car could be a death trap putting your wife and kids and other roads users at risk shame shame shame.Bit of a bugger Biker isnt about to offer addvice.Go put a tent up somewhere and start protesting the unfairness of it all, seems to be the go at the mo.

roflmao. talk about losing the plot! A death trap. why does a car with out a wof automatically become a death trap. Knowing trog, I guarantee the car would be well and truly up to wof standards. As for weasling out of a ticket. Bollocks. If you are able to get off a ticket why not. Only an idiot goes around paying for something they dont have to. Are you trying to tell us, if you got a ticket, and the cop said, ok, I'll change my mind and let you off, you woud then turn around and say to the cop, no dont let me off, I deserve it, I'll pay for it! You don't drink Tui's by any chance do you!
