what happens! If someone is driving around in a unregistered, unwarranted car, with outstanding tickets on it and caught on the road, what happens the car and driver!Just more tickets or will the car be impounded! The car has been unwarranted and unregistered since 2007.Thanks in advance :)

kaymay88, Feb 21, 4:27pm
the cop isnt legally obligated to impound the vehicle, but Id say he probably can if he chooses to. It would be different if the wof/reg was out for a month or two, but at coming up four years, Id say he would ticket you for every last little thing, then impound the car. And probably quite rightly so. You gotta ask the question, if the car hasnt been legal in four years, what right does the bonehead driving it have to use it on the road, without knowing if its roadworthy for the sake of all others on the road!

tanyia1, Feb 21, 4:34pm
I agree Kaymay IT'S not me I'm all legal :)The old man down stairs who lives in a bedsit has 2 vehicles, one as I said above and a second were warrant and rego ran out last month, he stills drives them both, one day the red car the next day the white car.I would dearly like one of them to go as he is parking awkwardly in the drive, thus my visitors have trouble getting out once they are in.They now are parking down the road and just don't think it's fair. :(

tanyia1, Feb 21, 5:22pm
Thanks biker.I will not approach him again as he is very 'odd',I think he is a bit of a recluse(!)I approached him about 2 months ago, and asked him if he could not collect he wheelie bin at 5.15am in the morning (his staircase is below my bedroom window : /) .I got my head bitten off!He is a tad scary! If it was not for my dogs I would move.Hoping one day he would be caught on the road but by the sound of it that my not happen :(

tanyia1, Feb 21, 5:25pm
opps 2 typo's "his" and "may".Sorry need to go and have some fuel (food!) for the brain.

mrfxit, Feb 21, 5:58pm
Simply tell the cops what times/ days he leaves the unit & the rest . as they say . is history
Up to them if they can be bothered

gedo1, Feb 21, 7:08pm
The Police may well remove and take the number plates from the vehicle, thus essentially disabling it from legally being driven in the road; and require that the driver or owner remove the vehicle from the road as soon as possible using a tow company for example. This is different from impounding the vehicle which has a finite period and must be released eventually. In this case the owner retains the vehicle (off the road of course!)

gedo1, Feb 21, 7:11pm
Mind you they would have to apprehend the vehicle being driven on the road for the above to take place.not just turn up at his home and do it!Another option is to call your local council and "naively" report an abandoned vehicle.

tanyia1, Feb 21, 7:52pm
mrfixI have reported to the "Police", since October last year but no outcome!Gee If my rego was out by 3 days you could guarantee I would get ticketed.

tanyia1, Feb 21, 7:58pm
Thanks gedo but also have reported to the council. he at one stage was hiding the cars up a side street and walking back home.As they were parked up the side street he receivced another $800.00 on the parked cars, he has not parked them there since.I feel I'm in a hard place though I have done no wrong!Police aren't any help.

tanyia1, Feb 21, 8:01pm
xraps I agree definitely no insurance. No insurance co would pay out on a unwarranted or unrego car. What more can I do!

kaymay88, Feb 21, 8:45pm
if you are worried about getting yelled at, an annonymous note in his letterbox, letting him know that 'a member of the neighborhood' has concerns about illegal, unsafe vehicles being driven around everywhere, and the erratic parking. might work, might not. perhaps suggest a call to the police might be on the cards should a friendly request for consideration not be heard.

tanyia1, Feb 21, 9:18pm
Kaymay funny you should mention "letterbox".When I moved in my tenancy agreement said 549 blah blah after 2 days and fixing the letterbox as the flap at the back was missing, he came out and said I was 549a NOT 549.I explained my tenancy agreement said I was 549, he said he couldn't give a sh$t what the tenancy agreement said that I was 549a.I then rang the council and he is wrong.I am the main dwelling therefore 549 he is the minor therefore 549a and I am now sharing a letterbox.kaymay I have also reported driver to the police at least 20 times when he leaves the property in his car(s) and still no joy.Once again what more can I do!!:(

friendly_prawn, Feb 21, 9:21pm
ouch. its 1 year in jail.Better start packing your bags.

tanyia1, Feb 21, 9:38pm
friendly what do you mean!

toycon, Feb 21, 9:48pm
tanyia1, Your friends shouldn't be parking in the driveway.
Driveways are for owners cars and emergancy vehicles and sometimes for taxis pickup/deliverys.
Driveways are not car parks for your mates.

friendly_prawn, Feb 21, 9:48pm
Sorry Tanyia, dont take any notice of me. Im just being my usual silly self.
Just joshing with you.

tanyia1, Feb 21, 9:58pm
Hi friendly and biker :0) As fortoycon!I PAY for 3 off street parking in my tenancy agreement!Get a life!My rent is 4 times what he pays downstairs, why does his have the right to park 2 cars and I only have one!!DICKHEAD!

tanyia1, Feb 21, 9:59pm
Biker if I put a lock on it "he" will only remove it!

tanyia1, Feb 21, 10:01pm
Friendly no prob would you like to move in downstairs ha!Seriously though anymore more advice on the car situation! :)

richardmayes, Feb 22, 5:02am
AHA! Is the old guy (a) subletting from you, or (b) another tenant of the landlord!
If (b), you should make it your landlord's problem.

richardmayes, Feb 22, 5:13am
And you haven't read the thread properly.

Sneak in to his bedroom at night and hide gay porn under his bed. Then call the Gay Offenders Squad. Problem solved!

skin1235, Feb 22, 5:46am
now here's a thought, he lives in a bedsit under your place, he's a bit strange to your way of thinking
could also be just another guy struggling to bet by with the hand that life has dealt him, he hasn't kept his vehicles up to 'legal' status because he simply cannot afford to
your circumstances are different to his, and he may have the attitude that rego is just a ripoff anyway
he could also be quite alienated, lonely, and have a short tolerance to silly little niggles about driveways and letterboxes
you've been there how long, and when was the last time you yelled out to him that you'd over done the amount of food cooked for tea so had a spare plate for him to either take home or sit with you and share
there are very few people who can remain recluse and distanced if the people around them make the effort to include them
take your mail situation - how hard is it to check when picking up the mail who its addressed to, and leaving any not addressed to you in the box for him to get - it's a mailbox FGS, not the bank account, you have the main dwelling and he was there first
learn to be a neighbour, not a shrew who must be right and in control all the time
his legal status re vehicles is his problem, and you reported him to the police ( 'but 3 weeks later nothing has been done'). thats what the bitch is about - you had a moan and tried to cause him serious grief, but nobody jumped to your command, now you come here to cry about how you're just a good person but nobody understands you or does as you order
get over yourself, change your attitude and treat the old coot with some respect ( he'd be better than a rottie for protecting your place) or get in a decent huff about it and move out, either way he would get a better quality of peace

20 times!!

get a life!

and the nightly KKK meetings is not a life
