cost $270 in petrol, good or bad!Drove my '94 nissan avenir 2L manual with trailer to Mossburn and back to pick up a 750 roadbike, left 5am back at 9:30pm

morrisman1, Jan 21, 3:41am
about 9.9L/100km. Not really that flash but you were towing a trailer.

I got 7.5L/100km in the 1.6L sentra towing a trailer full of camping gear on the open road, the avenir Id expect to get around 8L/100km towing a normal load on the open road.

Edit, 8L/100km is probably a bit optimistic but I wouldnt expect over 9L/100km unless the load was quite heavy or draggy

dent, Jan 21, 3:41am
Dosnt sound to bad considering a trailer being on the back of it. Around 10l per 100kms.

possumeyes, Jan 21, 3:42am
Isn't that the length of NZ almost!

richynuts, Jan 21, 3:44am
I didn't use 5th gear as much coming back with a load.

tuttyclan, Jan 21, 4:00am
Going to fly down to Christchurch this Monday evening and on Tuesday going to be driving a relocation rental campervan and arrive back in Auckland on Friday.Estimated 1000 km in 4 days.

morrisman1, Jan 21, 4:03am
that aint that much tutty, but none the less you will have to give us daily odometer updates for the camper!

Most I have done in a day is about 1100km, Invercargill to chch and back to pick up a morris minor on the trailer, and burnt out the clutch on the way up so crawled around chch trying to find a workshop to do it that afternoon. Left for Invers about 6pm, arrived in the early hours of the morning feeling like I was gunna go to sleep at the wheel!

xs1100, Jan 21, 4:07am
AND THEREFORE.oh you would like a medal

richynuts, Jan 21, 4:08am
No just want to know if the fuel economy was to be expected

tegeem, Jan 21, 4:15am
ive managed 7950kms on a 1999 triumph thunderbird in 12 days. my ass is iron. all in the south island. heaven! my longest day on the bike ever was just over 1100kms. riwaka to collingwood, back to riwaka. over to westport, up to karamea, down to jacksons bay, over to cromwell and home to Te Anau. but ask me to drive a car 200kms and id come up with any excuse not to go.

usdefault, Jan 21, 5:10am
Why do you put 98 in the 2.0l Nissan!

pollymay, Jan 21, 5:14am
Because racecar

ginga4lyfe, Jan 21, 5:41am
+1 just because, race car

tuttyclan, Jan 21, 10:27am
I have done long distance stints including 6500 km in 4 weeks driving around the South Island,900 km in a day (shared driving)Auckland to Napier return,1600km Auckland to Nelson return on a three day weekend ( shared driving),520 km Auckland to Taumarunui in a day return,1300 ish km Auckland to Wellington via Napier and back to Auckland in a three day weekend.

rocky0169, Jan 21, 1:51pm
Try 5000km,s in 3 days

richynuts, Jan 21, 2:41pm
because the car runs so much nicer with a bit more pep and I noticed I get about 40kms more out of a tank.

intrade, Jan 21, 2:50pm
270$ : 2.1$=128.5liter fuelfor (1274km) (128.5:1274km=0.100863422 liter per km X100km= (10.0863 liter for 100km). Not to bad but not economical either it be about what your car would expect to be using with some trailer part of the distance

intrade, Jan 21, 2:52pm
yes and you also dont destroy the engines bearing with premature ignition from to low octane fuel. 91 should be banned no car runs on 91 as it is 88 octane more likely.

a.woodrow, Jan 21, 6:31pm
Hmm just finished a trip to chch and back, racked up 1235km in a 99 2.2 camry, fully loaded $260 worth of 91 and I thought that was a bit steep - no trailer though

alan1111, Jan 21, 8:58pm
Pukekohe to Taupo then back via Rotorua and some running around in Rotorua $70.00 not bad i thought considering a big old 3.0L Maxima

tuttyclan, Jan 22, 12:38am
How did you do that, was it here in NZ did you share the driving because if it was only you driving you would have to be awake and be driving for at least 20 hours a day and drive 83.3 kilometers every hour with no breaks.

intrade, Jan 22, 12:39am
wait for male timaru he can be 1 million km in one day beats you all lol.

rocky0169, Jan 22, 12:40am
Brisbane to Port augusta,-whyala -adelaid,lonsdale ( south of adelaid) to mid west queensland( bout 4 1/2 hours west of brisbane. driving solo pushing the hours, Highly illegal of course

rocky0169, Jan 22, 12:44am
brisbane to perth 2 up used to cover in just over 48 hours. much to drivers disliking, its what the company used to push us to do.

ryanm2, Jan 22, 12:52am
well since we are handing out medals for awesome long distance driving - me and another scottish backpacker (whom i couldn't understand) drove Adelaide to Brisbane non stop (we stopped at macca's in some hick time and obviously slept whilst not driving) , stayed one full night, then following morning drove downto melb in my 1984 mazda 626. I think around 4000kms. You can send my medal to:
