mugenb20b, Jan 24, 11:44pm
You should see what 70's Falcon Cobras go for.

pfemstn, Jan 24, 11:50pm
worth every cent! would love to own it myself!

wrong2, Jan 24, 11:56pm
gotta love a dreamer

danni_2254, Jan 24, 11:58pm
New thread - 'What would you rather spend 500k on!'

bill-robinson, Jan 25, 12:17am
Had one in the UK swapped it for a Fiat 850. (was an auto though)

rjgmjs, Jan 25, 12:22am
Reminds me of the $970,000 Camaro that was listed some time ago.

hfc2, Jan 25, 12:24am
Cool car, like anything supply vs demand a classic wagon, rare now adays so sought after ,so the price is probably very reflective.

friendly_prawn, Jan 25, 12:26am
I got to agree.Ignoring the fact I could resell it for a profit, if it was for sale on here for $10,000 I wouldnt buy it.
Plenty of cars I would prefer for 10k before I would look at that. It's always amazed me the hype that surrounds a 70s GTHO falcon.

bubbles244, Jan 25, 12:44am
you've obviously never had the oportunity to ride in one let alone drive one. completely different animal to your "plenty of cars i would prefer"

520 odd NM of torque 290 KW which is still only 20 odd behind the latest falcon v8. In 1972 this thing was more powerful then mostLambo's andferrari's that people pay more then half a million dollars for today.

It is a supercar in it's own right.

fordcrzy, Jan 25, 12:48am
you could build a BRAND NEW dynacorn 67 fast back mustang with all the new gear and still have change for a batch at whangamata for what they are asking.

bubbles244, Jan 25, 12:52am
yeah but its a dynacorn, not a shelby supersnake.

friendly_prawn, Jan 25, 12:55am
haha got me there. I thought they were about 320 hp.
still, for well under the asking price you could still have somethign with the same power and something that would handle far better.
I guess its the nostalgia that draws people to it. They just aint my cup of tea I'm afraid. I could still think of many cars a 5th the price I would rather have.

fordcrzy, Jan 25, 12:57am
these days its just an old car. the appeal they have is an artistic one.
who cares if its genuine or not when you are staring at it as it drives by.

richardmayes, Jan 25, 2:51pm
Awesome car, but I've always thought the "Aussie muscle" scene rates itself just a little bit too high. Half a million dollars for a very special Coon. really!

How much would it cost to turn an "ordinary" XY into a replica GTHO III / hot rod with the same performance! I bet it wouldn't be half a million dollars.
so the majority of petrolheads who just want a fast, tough-looking V8 for the weekends is going to build their own, not line up to bid on this car.

thunderbolt, Jan 25, 3:24pm
But would be matching numbers authentic with history!

A couple of years ago I saw a pretty much destroyed Bathurst Monaro shell sell for about 20K AUD just because it had the right tag to build an "authentic" car.

sifty, Jan 25, 3:36pm
All you nana's should stick to you automatic corrollas because they're nicer cars at much less money, eh.

richardmayes, Jan 25, 4:19pm
If you're going to call people out, then why don't you address what they're actually saying, instead of something different that's not what they're saying!

If I had $500k to spend, yes I'd rather buy a 20-valve Corolla - and a house to park it in. That doesn't mean I don't like the Coon.

socram, Jan 25, 5:50pm
I'd rather spend that sort of money on a genuine historic single seater race car or sports racing car with some real history, plus the a tow car and trailer - and I'd still have money left over. Each to his own.

blackdotlova, Jan 25, 6:05pm
Drove a phase 2, till you have you will never see it,
Its really for some one that won't comment on the price and line it up in his air con man cave with the other twenty or so cars he has.

If I were a rich man, I would buy one of these and drop an eight in to it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_2000GT Another in my stable would be this one. And yep, not to every one's tastes, but it has me drooling. http://www.cheetahcars.com/history.htm
