Heres one for you, An off duty cop can and will send you an infringment notice if they see you doing some really stupid on the road. Like passing an off duty officer in his private car into on coming traffic and cutting him off. But as long as he had his hat on of course.not.

I think this myth arose from a situation about 5000 years ago when we had separate MoT "traffic cops" and Police.AFAIK the MoT guys had their badge/number on their hat so they had to display it when working.Or something like that.Maybe.

Do you watch roadwars at all on CI (channel 71)! This guy was impersonating an ambulance driver. Had every detail down to a T on the outside of his vehicle (except it wasn't the right car they use in Britain!), had about 5 different authentic uniforms and could have passed as one to an unsuspecting person. Without identificaiton you could be anybody.

How about you do a test case for us all then. Stand up in court and tell Judge that the officer wasn't wearing his hat, so i don't have to pay, nah nah. Make sure you post the results please.
