The modern petrol station probably has, along with about four brands of condom. But do you think you've got a hope in hell of getting a radiator cap, fan belt or wiper blades! You can't even buy a petrol can in a lot of them should you need one in an emergency.

Their theory being if you cannot get the parts you want late at night and the petrol station was your last resort then you will have time to bonk that honey in the car with ya so if they can sell you a condom instead of parts they have still made a sale.the name of the game.game set and checkmate.

+1 good on you. Winz benefits often pay more than the average wage. then on top of it the beneficiary can claim for car repairs, suits for job interviews, education costs etc. while the rest of us have to pay our own way in the world. Beneficiaries should have to budget there weekly taxpayer funded incomes to allow for car repairs, not just expect an extra handout when something goes wrong.

http://www.workandincome.govt.nz/manuals-and-procedures/deskfile/main_benefits_rates/unemployment_benefit_tables.htm Not that much looking here, don't see how it is more than the average wage but depends on what you claim for other things I guess. Not on it so I wouldn't know. Some people are on it though for genuine reasons though, like trouble finding work etc or been made redundant etc. On the rates in that link it would be very hard to budget all of lifes costs on 225 for someone that is single and 25 plus. 225 is not much when you pay rent and food etc.

Car is a bit of hiffy one, which can be very decieving. Not everyone who has a crap car is poor, some are just not interested in cars and they don't care one iota about them. When they have the money for other things like the wife for example or the home ownership which is more important to me than a car. (rent is dead money)

Thats pretty arrogant, I never judge a book by its cover with clients. But then again everyone goes through bad times money wise at some point in their life that is beyond their control.

Well, yeah, but it's kinda different when you're on a bicycle.

And you need a wall to lean it against.

Years ago when I was saving for my first house, I has a second job at a car rental. We got a group come in, driving a PoS and wanting to hire a van so they could go up north for a tangi. They needed a quote though as WINZ would be footing the bill. The boss gave them a quote (morals weren't too high on his list - "keep the wheels rolling boys"). While they weresorting everything out, one guy came across to where the bosses Statesman was parked and said "How much to get this for the weekend!". I told him that I didn't think WINZ would stretch to paying for a V8. His response "Nah man, you guys just put up the quote and say it's a van!". He didn't see any problem. Van came back from the journey - absolute pigsty. Roaches in the ashtray (not the ones with legs) and sh*t scattered everywhere. Showed the boss the van and asked him if he wanted to rent to them again. "Oh it'll clean up okay". More than one party at fault with that problem.

Yep, us white trash need somewhere to lean our pushies when we're eyeing up cars we can't afford.
