please forgive my mistake, i ment to say southgas, or what is it called southfuel! the chch outfit.

the one andy said in his quote "is also one in christchurch called southern gas i think" THATS who i spoke to

sr2, Jun 5, 10:55am
I have to say that the day NZIG became BOC the standard of service dropped markedly.

thejazzpianoma, Jun 5, 10:56am
Sweet will head there now.

mrfxit, Jun 5, 10:56am
Nope .
.
That happened about 2 months before the name change

intrade, Jun 5, 10:57am
yea boc want to destroy all Dx bottles they had tryed to stop supagas from filling them and fallen thru in court as they aperantly had no proof of the original contract that they did own the rights to the bottles.
so dont destroy Dx bottles and only fill em at supagas as they are a kiwi company unlike b.o.c losers.

andrew241, Jun 5, 11:03am
Can you use a oxy bottle and fill it with Argon!

mrfxit, Jun 5, 11:04am
As far as I remember yep, but MUST be relabeled & top painted

andrew241, Jun 5, 1:51pm
Cool thanks for that info.

zephyrheaven, Jun 5, 5:47pm
BOC are the biggest losers on earth = its taken me 12 months to try & run out my bottles fast enough to give them back & tell them to shove them where the sun doesnt shine

These guys are the shit:

Yes - the standard for the bottles is the same although I am not sure if the regs are changing.- my big argon bottle started as an oxy bottle. You do have to paint them to match the fill, and ERMA have a standard colour scheme.
According to Eastside Cylinder Testing in Hamilton years ago, they are more forgiving for Ar than oxy - one of my bottles passed for argon use but not oxy

thejazzpianoma, Jun 5, 7:32pm
Would that likely be because oxygen would support internal corrosion! I could be way off, I don't even know if they fill to the same pressure but am just curious.

mrfxit, Jun 5, 7:46pm
Some of the other gas's such as acetylene need a honey comb type packing in the bottle.
Some have higher test grades.

I use Supergas. cheaper than BOC.

franc123, Jun 7, 2:23pm
I think the general opinion is quite clear by now I'd say andy_563.In an ideal world everyone wanting to engage in gas consumption would have easy access to a Supagas branch using rent free cylinders and the entire BOC chain including their staff would be loaded into a large shipping container and dropped into the ocean somewhere. In the meantime the opposition has to be supported the best way that we can until they've at least got branches in all the main centres, get the word spread even further then the other crowd can be run out of town.

thejazzpianoma, Jun 8, 1:26pm
I don't think it would be a bad thing if BOC remained as a minority player, that helps insulate us against the risk of Supagas then getting cheeky when it becomes a monopoly player.
Competition is good!

Its just like I am happy for Telecom to stay but they need to lose a lot more customers yet and stop being in a position to still manipulate the market.

Its so funny how so many people are just so happy to stay with a company that has ripped our country off for years, so much so they have even managed to stunt economic development. Not to mention the thousands of dollars extra we have paid over the years for sub standard telephone services.

BOC pales in comparison!

geoff_m, Jun 8, 6:53pm
That was my understanding of it when the bottle got done 9 years ago. Any internal corrosion in an oxy bottle is instant fail.

geoff_m, Jun 8, 6:56pm
Not quite, as you have to get the carbide - not so easy and cheap to get these days, and it needs to be kept dry. Those things were also a bomb waiting to happen if you weren't careful, not to mention a pain to use unless you were welding continuously.
An alternative for cutting and brazing is LPG.You need to change the tips as LPG burns differently.

Check your latest BOC bill, just got my today and they charged me $20.70 for an admin fee if you dont use thier direct debit option. This pissed me off so I rang to give the a mouth full.now expecting a credit

grangies, Jun 8, 7:08pm
They're rip-off faggots.

Hi guys,

You can find Supagas in Wellington at TWL in Seaview.
