The service I experienced in Tauranga was beyond appalling from two staff members. It couldn't have been worse if they tried.
Pricing might actually be competitive but its their nasty business ethics that annoy me. Plus while pricing on comparative services might be similar its irrelevant when they push home users into expensive contracts because they don't refill owner bottles.
Also, if they managed to buy out the competition I have no doubts prices would go up.

Crooks!Criminals!Female Genitals!Enough ofthe letter C, how about a bunch of other words and phrases in no particular order, arrogant, smug, monopolistic, expensive, apathetic, take-it-or-leave-it, if you don't like our prices go somewhere else, no we don't fill those renting from us is the only way to get gas supply in the known universe. Oops looks like I did get started.

Add to that, even though you have just spent money with me and asked nicely I will not tell you where the shop you are looking for is, so you can buy thatitem we don't have, because we see them as a competitor.

You're right, there is a consistent unhelpful "attitude" in that outfit.Until I started talking to a few people I just thought it was my imagination.

I just got my own cylinder, so no issues there. I did get a BOC welder though :P

I have to collect an oxygen bottle for the old man once a month and they're useless. They're rated for a couple of hours but he's lucky to get 30 minutes out of them even at 1-2 psi. And they cost a fortune.
Customer service I've got no issues with.

I love my supagas cylender, its huge, it was cheap to buy, it costs me nothing to have sitting waiting ready to go, no paperwork, no bills, and its filled with the proper gas but costs very little per volume.

Do you have to pay for it or is it covered by the health system!
If you are paying I wonder if you can get medical grade oxygen from supagas! If he is using it in one place would a bigger bottle suit!
foxdonut,

We pay for them - I think around 40 bucks a cylinder. He may get a reimbursement from WINZ for them but I don't think its the case. I know he's really unhappy with them and it limits his going out and about. I think they (parents) said they were going to get rid of them altogether because they're a waste of time. Around the house he has an oxygen pump so they're only used for trips out and about.
I'll look into Supa for him. Thanks

NZIG were a pack of ladies front bums and nothing has changed in the way of service or pricing. Change of name did nothing other than create the BOC Bunch Of Carnts name which suits the bastards fine

In the years leading up to the phasing out of the owner DX bottles from BOC we had to go on a waiting list to exchange them, sometimes weeks.Beengettingoxy/act from supagas, trying to use up my BOC argoshield gas to get rid of the rental costs,i don't use it often enough to warrant it but its there when i need it.West Auckland BOC shut at 5pm week days and are not open Saturday so no service there. Our work uses the large G size BOC oxy bottles and we are going through them fast lately.Don,t think they are filled them like they used to.Dials on gauges are damaged so cant tell how fill they are when they come.

You guys may be able to help, I have my own small oxy/act kit consiting of BOC bottles. I haven't refilled them for some years, used to just go in and swap over. I gather that I can't do that anymore. Where can I take these bottles now to get them exchanged/refilled. It ususally takes me several years to empty them so I don't want to rent.

Supagas all the way, I would pay more to Supagas never to have to deal with BOC again. They lost one of my owner CO2 bottles before supagas came along, and getting it sorted was a nightmare as they denied everything. Not to mention their rip off rental - my Supagas filled owner bottlespaid for themselves in no time. If I had to rent, I wouldn't have an oxy set - I never use it enough to justify the cost now I have the plasma cutter. Mig and argon I would have to bend over and take it, but wouldn't; enjoy it. I looked at importing bottles 10 years ago, as they are chea in the US, all DOT stamped etc, but NZ hasa nice protectionist scheme requiring every bottle to have batches especially tested, lots of paperwork and every batch as a dedicated LAB number. It isa NZ specific thing and a nice racket. Look at http://www.supagas.co.nz/ Gammelvind - looks like you are out of luck in Wellington - Palmerston North is the closest. South Islanders have Southern Gas Supplies in Christchurch.

Thanks andy your kind words are much appreciated. Good timing too as this place is starting to fill up with trolls again and I was getting a bit "over it".
Such a shame TM choose to remove good helpful posters because they get a bit cheeky now and then yet choose to leave those that contribute nothing and just spend their time attacking others.
Anyhow, back to BOC, no need to hijack your thread.

Yes, thats exactly what I have. Incidentally, I found supagas the cheapest place to buy a bottle too. From memory my huge argoshield bottle with 10 year cert was about $399. Its a re-certed one but was painted up nicely like new.
thejazzpianoma,

Pretty sure they are only an upper north island thing at the moment which is a shame. Incidentally, once they are in the South its worth some thought as a home user even if they are not in your actual town. It takes me more than a year to use my huge argosheild bottle so it wouldn't really bother me if I had to take it to say Hamilton to get it filled. I would just work it in when I was heading that way.
i spoke with supagas and they said they would activly identify and not fill old DX bottles as its boc's bottle.
edit: also i'm a home user looking for gas in south island, BOC isnt an option as like others i'd take years to empty bottles. because southern gas won't fill DX bottles i'm stuck with empties. (i've looked into the price of taking bottles up to supagas but the costs at 200 each way on the ferry in a car boot wouldnt cut it. shit was even thinking about chipping in with a few mates, sharing the cost of transport and getting refilled, then i dont like the idea of a car boot full of 10 bottles.

Foxdonut You obviously have a concentrator which was prescribed to you, you can also get med grade oxy prescribed as well, with that you get a flow regulator masks and hoses all free, why pay, see your GP and find out, and as for hard piping the house forget it ,have you seen the regs for med gas systems.
