to replace the waterpump on a '97 L200 2.6 Sport!

skyline_guy_r34, Jun 10, 4:29pm
Not sure on those engines. But a few years ago me and a mate did a waterpump on his 3.8 commodore. Took just over 3 weeks. You could say we were enthusiastic amateurs

henderson_guy, Jun 10, 4:44pm
LOL I was intending to do it a little.faster than that

mugenb20b, Jun 10, 5:05pm
Allow a couple of hours.

skin1235, Jun 10, 5:16pm
you do the maths, trip to liquorland for a couple of slabs each for both the mates, pick up a few pies to nuke as well, search for 2 hrs for the ramps, can't find them so cut up some 10x2 and make new ramps, have a couple of beers, and a pie, drive vehicle up onto ramps, back it off again, repair ramps and drive it on again, have nuther beer, slide in under and drain rad, all down arm, and its blardy hot, have beer while rubbing scalded arm gently with frozen pie, have nudder beer, it's too dark now so leave it on ramps ready for the morning, trip over chainsaw left out after cutting up 10x2 and gash leg severely, have a couple of beers on way to A&E, 3 hrs later and a bandaid or two get home finish slabs and nuke pies, burn mouth on superheated pie filling, use last can of beer to quench flame in mouth, then realise you have to do it all again in the morning cos ya never actually got it done

skyline_guy_r34, Jun 10, 5:19pm
He snapped a main bolt and it took 3 weeks (and about 5 different techniques) to get it out.

If its as easy as the 3.8 v6, Then a waterpump shouldnt take anything more than an hour or two.

henderson_guy, Jun 10, 6:33pm
Please.10x2 for ramps! What overkill.I'd rather use some 6x1 fence palings!

skin1235, Jun 10, 6:38pm
cheapskate, plus you don't get to use the pasload gas gun cos thats jammed on 'full' and would drive them right through a 6x1, and kill the neigbours chooks on the way out

henderson_guy, Jun 10, 6:44pm
No paslode, rather a Ramset with purple charges.oh yeah!

cowboy110, Jun 10, 6:47pm
Ha ha awesome.Oh how true. And people scoff at 3 weeks to do a water pump.

skin1235, Jun 10, 6:49pm
envy, much, I want one of those big toys too, but the police took away my firearms licence, something about dead chooks

henderson_guy, Jun 10, 6:51pm
I wonder if it could put a nail through the block of this bloody ute.it's not doing too badly though, considering the age and milage.

skin1235, Jun 10, 7:25pm
and I thought you were talking van, not ute, utes are easy as, same deal with the slabs, pies and ramps etc, but leave the canopy on the back so you can store the slabs in the back, then when you carefully place the rad in through the side window it will knock the slabs over and all the cans will roll out the tailgate and tear off down the driveway, you'll trip over while trying to catch them on the run and end up with a busted kneecap, and a violation notice about loud and sustained profanities in a built-up area etc
Those two mates of yours ( a plumber and an electrician ) will be more use than tits ona bull but not much more, and will be now be ringing their other mates and making arrangements to all come and help you 'do the waterpump on the ute tomorrow', cos you're obviously in too much pain to do it tonight

oh and be extra careful on those utes, had a mate that got a pierced bellybutton on the ragged end of the bonnet release cable, then as he slipped while trying to unpierce the bellybutton managed to step off the block of firewood he was standing on and snagged his overalls on the bonnet safety catch, gave him one mean wedgey and in his struggles to extract himself from that knocked out the bonnet stay, so that came down on his head, etc etc, great night, me and me electrician mate were in stitches ) actually so was he - later

pup2, Jun 10, 7:26pm
lol You sound alot like a mate of mine in chch. You might be related. One of classics was making a hand mixer out of #8 wire and his grinder. All good till the wire shoot out the grinder through his hand lol. He laughed but his misses was a bit pi$$y, but still managed to laugh at him as well

skin1235, Jun 10, 7:35pm
yeah but think about how quick you could make a pavlova, mmmm pavlova - pity the neighbours chooks all died mysteriously

henderson_guy, Jun 10, 7:43pm
Quote of the night mate.just brilliant!

skin1235, Jun 10, 7:47pm
hey seriously now, is this the triton engine, they had cambelt not chain, waterpump belt also drove alt with another separate belt for aircon and p/steer, listed time is 2.5 hrs
nah I'm not a plumber

henderson_guy, Jun 10, 7:51pm
no, this is the model before triton.one of the last they made before the changeover. Definitely cam chain, waterpump APPEARS to be easy to get to, but you know what they say about appearances. Waterpump belt also drives alt, p/steer seperate belt, aircon also seperate belt but removed.

skin1235, Jun 10, 7:54pm
know the one, there's no difficult water pipes etc, the pump change should be able to be done in a couple oif hours or slightly less,
but think about ya mates, they need a giggle or two too, so invite them round etc etc, grab some slabs, chances are you'll find one of your ramps propping up your carpenter mates washouse with a 10 tonne jack on top of it from when his mate the plumber flooded the place and the piles all sank on that side of the house ,,. should be a great weekend

cheveuxhd, Jun 10, 8:40pm
cmon pup, that time i nailed my hand to the fascia board on your house which in turn stopped me falling off that chair i was using as a ladder was pretty damn funny too though eh

toxicgreen., Jun 10, 8:48pm
LOL giggling here !

pup2, Jun 11, 4:47am
lmfao How the hell did I forget that, Funnyist bl00dy thing. Here he was balanced on the chair, givin me a lesson on what not to do. Friggin shots a nail into his hand lmao again. Sh1t man. Just telling me would have been swt.
Same job. Pulled the roof off looking for a leak, as you do. Sitting on the roof beams, knocking out the dwangs (think thats what their called, yea, he has his work cut out with me) As he's telling me to be carefull, I get another demo, The beam snaps due to water damage, and hes gone. Look down in the rubble and there he is spread eagle. Time for a break. Good Times. Only one group of guys have ever tried stealing a car from him. Totaled their car and they were calling the cops for help.

henderson_guy, Jun 11, 3:13pm
Well, be prepared for an answer! It's go night, tonight

skin1235, Jun 11, 5:06pm
you've alerted A&E, got the slabs cooling, the bandaids on the bench, comfy seats for your mates, nukes had a run up and is working good
wish I were there, they tell me my sympathy act when someone rips the back of their hand open on the battery case shelf when the socket slips is something to behold, almost genuine lol

skin1235, Jun 11, 7:05pm
you've been gone 4 hrs, do we send in a search team or a recovery team with body bags!
