It took 2 1/2 hours to loosen the alternator to release tension on the belt, undo the bolts on the water pump, realise there was a long bolt that we couldn't get out without removing the pulley and fan.realising we COULDN'T undo the nuts holding the fan on now that the belt was off, removing the radiator to be able to pull the water pump/pulley/fan out, jamming the impeller blades with a screwdriver to undo said nuts, trying to undo seized bolts to uncover the thermostat without shearing them, fitting the new thermostat and gasket, fitting the water pump and gasket, replacing the belt, tensioning alternator, re-installing pulley and fan, replacing radiator, replacing water pump bypass hose, filling the system and bleeding it. With only one cut and one splinter. And much swearing.

so it went well then!, sounds like very well, sorry to have missed your triumphant return by an hr but pleased you were able to return

and no stitches - something must be wrong lol but it will be okay - there was much swearing involved = guarantee of a successful job

ah but you're no longer an enthusiastic amateur now, you're a fully fledged CO spewing petrol head, you can leap tall buildings ( and replace waterpumps)

cheers, has been fun

as long as we all learnt something, and no animals were hurt in the procedures performed.
