the speed limit was set more than 25 years ago. car technology has come along way since.travelling at 130Kmh is prbably SAFER today then when the speed limit was set.
F*** the speed limit. i drive to the conditions of the road at the time and that could be 30kmh past a school or 140kmh on a clear dry wide road.
if more people worried about DRIVING thier cars and not just STEERING them then the road toll would be alot lower.
maybe the OP should hire someone to walk in front of his car with a red flag just to be super safe

Driver attitude Driver self responsability Driver Knowladge Roading systems and poor (cheap) roads. The first 3 are sadly lacking in many NZ drivers and untill we mature enough as drivers we are a loooooonnnng way from coping with 130kph. And the roading system is a joke but still its what we have and it comes down to, agian, the first 3 lack of abilities. I think the departed Michael Jackson had it right with the song "Man In The Mirror"Have a look some time and see what you see.Perfection no doubt. Its aninground thing in NZ males (imparticular) that most think they are better than everyone else and always have to blame someone or something else for there own short comings. We are not a humble bunch.

I really cant figure if all the speed nana's here are for real. What ever happened to the days when you had to try the car out to see how fast it would go.! If the road is good and no traffic,whats wrong with getting on the gas.! It's always good to see 200 klicks on the clock.and all the kids in the back seat just love it.

Agree with you all the way eddiedean. The roads are not the place for egos or sports. We have race tracks for that. The bottom line is that speedsters show they have no care for good driving, no care for their impact on other people and no care for wastefulness.
