Quote: A race-bred version of the 3300 engine was also fitted to the LJ Torana GTR XU-1, producing well over 200 brake horsepower. By now equipping the XU-1 with the 202ci engine and larger 1.75in CD triple carburettors, as well as a new close ratio M21 4-speed Australian made transmission, this gave the nimble XU-1 the power boost it needed to seriously challenge the powerful Phase Three Ford XY Falcon GT-HO, which had won the 1971 Hardie-Ferodo 500 production car endurance race held annually at Bathurst.
Australian made M21 ^^^. a GENUINE Muncie is American made.

It's a common misconception rob_man. I think alot of people just refer to them as "The Australian Muncie", hence people confuse them with the real deal American Muncie. An Aussie M21 wouldnt last 5 minutes in a big block Corvette. lol.

I believe the yankee Muncie has an alloy case too, whereas the Aussie M20/M21 are both cast iron cases & belong to the Saginaw family.

Another gear box Holden released that were not well known was on some LX SLR-5000s that had the A9X option came out with the borg warner super T10 gear box.The only Holdens that had muncies were manual 350 HQ Monaros and the odd "special" Hq that managed to get the 350 manual package.
