I've run out of free look-ups on carjam - but can anyone tell me why it's wearing new plates! ie was it re-registered or did it have p/plates previously! I too am seriously contemplating it - but you have to ask, even after spending $1000+ on panel/paint would you be able to attract a great deal more than $4600 to make it worthwhile! How much were they new out of curiousity!

Each to their own. Would you rather be in a Echo/Vitz/Yaris/WhatEverTheFuc- kTheyCallThemTheseDays or a Micra/March!

Just for you PW. Nothing listed as to the reason for re reg.
phillip.weston,
Apr 22, 9:36pm
ah re-reg. surely not written off due to that panel damage on the left hand side! was only just recently re-reg'd so obviously the guy bought it with intention to flick off and make money from it.
jono2912,
Apr 22, 9:37pm
Looked like old person kms. Maybe the person died and the rego lapsed! Sounds horrible I know, but that's what I think.
thejazzpianoma,

WIth those km's. that year and being NZ new with the 80 hp engine it should sell at the higher end of what Punto's go for. I would have thought at least 6K possibly 7K.
That said, its not the most desirable colour. Not sure if it would be a great fix and flick or not as it may sit a while before selling. but then they have been selling like proverbial hot cakes of late.
For Papariccardo who wanted one that was mechanically mint to boost his confidence in one, but didn't want to pay very much it could be ideal. It wouldbe a great one to keep as a run around/commuter vehicle.
If you are on the look out for that kind of think let me know Phillip as there was one the other day that may have suited you better. It was the same model but had a crunchy second gear change, they only wanted $2000 for it!
I don't mind giving you a heads up when I spot that kind of thing.

Jazz, you've gotten to me mate. I've got an 04 Punto coming from Japan. Appealed as it's only 12,000 km and burgandy.
phillip.weston,
Apr 23, 6:44am
I'm just more keen for any car to buy and re-sell to make money from to be honest. I do prefer mechanical faults over cosmetic faults, ie I would rather replace a gearbox than muck around with panel and paint.
thejazzpianoma,
Apr 23, 8:01am
LOL! Will be great to hear what you think. I have not had the facelift one but would assume much the same as the non-facelift as its the same mechanically.
Not to put a wet blanket on things but do you think there will be money in it!
Punto's are usually great bargains in NZ but a bit hard to get margin in from Japan. That said with those km's/year and the market for them at the moment you have a good chance of getting top dollar.
Just a tip for selling it. Those CVT's are really reliable but only if serviced every 40'000km. Its hard to get one under those km's or one that you know has been serviced. Its a point well worth raising given the km's on yours. Also, have a play with the power/economy button. Its great for cruising up the kaimais and keeping the revs low with power on (economy setting)
Also, that CVT is known for being a lot more reliable than the Honda Jazz unit as its a better design and has a dedicated filter. Thats what kills the Jazz CVT's, they start to get abrasive muck in the fluid and it causes damage/wear really quickly.
Parts are cheap and overnight form Dino Enterprises and Italian Auto's so also good selling points.
Best of luck with it!
If you want, give us a buzz when its in. I would be keen to come and say gidday and have a look, always good to know when there is a good local one for sale.

I will keep an eye out. Pity I didn't think of you when the 2K one came up. Transmission should be an easy change in one of those and I would have thought you might pick up $2500 or even $3000 on it (after costs) Anyhow, will give you a buzz next time I see something that might suit.

That was owned by an elderly person who died, has had the clutch replaced twice in its life aswell
phillip.weston,
Apr 23, 9:09am
shit that's one expensive Punto at $14999. 7 years old and it's only lost less than half its value. Yeah right.
carstauranga001,
Apr 23, 9:22am
But it's not $14,995 is it! It's a bulls*t way of showing a discount that never existed, or hydraulicing for finance which is illegal.
phillip.weston,
Apr 23, 9:59am
even at $12k it's a bit spendy.
