Our cops should consider this.

You'd hate to come barreling up behind me as it would just make me go slower.

johnf_456, Apr 15, 6:39pm
bingo!

wheelmann, Apr 15, 6:41pm
I have seen 'slow vehicle' lanes on the open road. In general it's keep left unless overtaking, turning right or the left lane is blocked. So I guess the 'slow lane', 'fast lane' are just terms people use instead of saying 'the lane which people use to go faster allowing them to overtake slower vehicles' or 'the lane which Nana's use when driving to the bridge club'.

I find it easier just to keep left and let the speeders go. I would rather avoid being tail-gated because someone thinks I am holding them up.

johnf_456, Apr 15, 6:48pm
^^ lol attiude

attitudedesignz, Apr 15, 6:49pm
Yeah.but only a little one John lol.

johnf_456, Apr 15, 6:50pm
Still funny, I saw what it was before you deleted it.

pollymay, Apr 15, 7:06pm
No one gives a toss if johnf wants to go about the law or whatever it's fine. No one is going to ram anyone for no reason, that's silly. What people are calling others wankers for is they don't want some deliberately playing smartass in the fastlane or doing something happily in their head feeling dainty cause "it's the law" while it is messing up traffic around them, that's ignorance specially if the other lanes are moving just as fast.

What does happen that leads to contact is if someone is put in a pinch situation then something has got to give. Even today towing a trailer someone pulled out in front of me and I had to go into the oncoming lane, there was no reasoning on what to do, the other lane was empty and I dived for it. If there had been a car then I would of happily ran fair up their ass cause that is better than a head on. There is always circumstance leading to an outcome so why play smartass if it causes further issues. Do it on your own not on other people's time. Don't give me "the law's the law" crap either cause I've sped along plenty of times with someone bleeding all over the floor of my car, obviously I'm weighing my judgement as I go but you play smartass at a time like that and of course you are gunna start an on road shitstorm.

johnf_456, Apr 15, 7:12pm
why do you feel the need to still go at me! Jokes are getting a bit dry now, give it a rest. Stop flogging a dead house.

quickstitch, Apr 15, 7:19pm
John, your holier than thou personally is shining thru again. If your in the fast lane doing 100 and the car in the left lane beside you is doing 100 then you are a wanker. the first rule in the road code is keep as far left as practical. if your doing the same speed as the next car then why would you be in the right lane, obviously not overtaking. and if you deliberately slow down you deserve a club steering lock thrown at your car (as i've seen a mate do).

johnf_456, Apr 15, 7:21pm
Notice the terms: keep left unless passing quoted twice, obviously you just have it in for me without even reading into it. I do keep left unless passing and throwing steering locks is very immature which would land you in more trouble than the other person. So do explain what the problem is! If anyone wants to speed that is there own personal problem no one else s.

wrong2, Apr 15, 7:48pm
you get the old man award for april, beating johnf to it too - impressive ~

quickstitch, Apr 15, 7:50pm
i just was referring to your post #30. didnt read them all. but in piost #30 you think its ok to deliberately slow a driver down .

quickstitch, Apr 15, 7:52pm
and post 31 you agree if someone is holding you up you should just overtake them in the left lane. what the hell are they doing in the right lane if the left lane is clear. first rule. keep left.

johnf_456, Apr 15, 7:54pm
Note I didn't say it that, I was just grinning to someone elses. But really if you want to speed go for gold but don't get shitty at other drivers who follow the rules of the road. I'm not going to stop you, you will get nabbed at some point.

johnf_456, Apr 15, 7:56pm
I also did not make that comment, keep left unless passing. So if you are in the right lane say doing 98 100 and passing people in the left doing 80 or 90 that is very legal. I will be in the right lane following keep left UNLESS passing, if you want to do 120, simple wait. I will pull left however when I am NOTpassing, so I do not see what the problem is.

That is the rules of the road.

footplate1, Apr 15, 7:57pm
As the Police say, it is not over to the private motorist to enforce the law. That is the job of the Plods.

quickstitch, Apr 15, 8:00pm
I am a speedster, my usual motorway speed is 120-130. got a ticket on the way to the nationals a few weeks back, 127 kms. shit happens.

huffpuff01, Apr 15, 8:59pm
How about we set up a petition to parliament to have "keep left, unless passing" signs, erected on Auckland Motorways (& other cities in NZ)
http://tinyurl.com/5st7uvg Or a new law, similar to this; http://www.youtube.com/watch!v=Vr1tQIKQddI&feature=related
I think the government would be very keen. They can fine people for holding up traffic. Then fine people who are exceeding the posted speed limit, who are now not stuck behind the drivers doing the limit.

pollymay, Apr 15, 9:40pm
I'm not going at you I'm making a statement, you can do what you want just don't try force that on others. That same righteousness that you shelter under applies to the other side of the fence to, I don't force people to go fast or ride their ass constantly cause they aren't speeding. I shouldn't be in the slow lane forcing cars out of my way anymore than anyone in the fast lane should be forcing people around them. It is not that hard to understand.

speedwayfan1, Apr 15, 11:35pm
Must be auditioning for a new Super Troopers!

gedo1, Apr 16, 6:55am
Money is just money and reasonably soon replaced.so I haven't mentined the fine. However the demerit points for. "Failing to keep as close as practicable to left edge of a roadway = 20".Road Code. And, yes I know the Road Code does not quote the applicable law but the road rule is quite clearly able to be interpreted (as it is by the Road Code entries) that you should not stay in the so called fast lane when there is room in a lane to the left.Speeding or not.Gee, I dunno if I feel safe on motorways anymore with some of the opinions and aggressiveness that is being expressed in this post!

gedo1, Apr 16, 6:57am
.and I believe those signs are going up, or have been put up on motorways around Wellington.Anyone know for sure!Fancy that we have to be told by signs how to act sensibly!

johnf_456, Apr 16, 7:11am
There was no need to mention my name and use it to have a go, just because you can. I simply obey keep left unless passing, if anyone wants to speed thats there problem. The sooner they get booked the better.

crzyhrse, Apr 16, 9:31am
Then lets hope the cops start ticketing twits like you as a matter of course.
