all the very talented drivers are stuck in a 2 horse race. Lets bring REAL cars back to Australian Touring Car racing!

Actually I'd like to see the turbo 6 Falcon have a go too. I really enjoyed the days of Jags, Camaros, Sierras, Nissans etc hooning round. I love the old V8's, but do not like the 2 marque taxi racing much, caters to the aussie boofhead mentality I suppose though.

And the price difference between the two is!

Approximately four million for a V8 car.
GT3 997 C-Cup, when brought up to NGT standard I'd guess around: 350-400k for the GT3, then spend maybe three times the purchase price on a roll cage, approved seats, comms, fuell cell, lexan and and whatever it takes to get the 436hp engine up to 460hp.
So whats that, 1.5 mill or so!
Edit - old details for the SC.

4 million for a v8 supercar! are you serious!

Think the v8 supercar cost is around 900k not 4 mill. But if you have a link to prove that claim!

The current V8 Supercars V8 Supercar team owners have been brought up to speed on how the Car of the Future (CotF) is progressing.
A meeting was held last Thursday to engage team owners in the project, which is in its early stages.
The CotF, likely to be introduced in 2012, will still have V8 powerplants but cost only $250,000 to build compared to the $500,000 it roughly costs to build a current V8 Supercar.
Actual designs are still some way off but V8 Supercars Australia (V8SA) has stated many times that the CotF will still look like Commodores and Falcons with working headlights and swinging panels.
what is a real engine! my road car makes more power then a v8 supercar
am currently looking at audi rs-6 s/w for wife and they make more power and thats for a woman mate!

700,000 taxi
spend 100k on a gtr and no aussie vehicle will touch it
look into the time attack battles in states/japan and europe no commy or falcons any where near the top 50

ct9a, why would your wife need that much power! I own a 94VR Commiedoor and have had it since 1997 and apart from oil, filters, tires and brake pads I have spent nothing on it. It now has over 425000km on it. That is far more important to me than having heaps of horse power. The speed limit is 100 and the 3.8 V6 makes more than enough power to break that.
Chassis - 300k. Engine 75k. Trans, 15k, Wheels, 6k, tread (one meeting) say 4 sets, 15k, brakes, 10k. That equals 430 thousand for the car PARTS but not to put it together.
Comp-cup cars like the GT3 are stripped and parts replaced, they aren't built up from scratch which is why a V8 SC is always going be more expensive. Well more. A SHIT LOAD more.
What, you thought they just brought a Falcon from Metro Ford Wellington and put some stickers on it!

i am not into old vehicles for dailys i like modern engineering and style i would never own a vehicle that has done 400kms and mate i run a workshop i see many many vehicles japs included that have done that many kms,all the early nissans, mazdas etc they are just as worst for wear as any aussie vehicle.
and 100k on a fpv or hsv wouldnt touch a gtr 4wd on the road is better then 4wd i run a 19x12 and 19x10 rim and i dont have much grip in the dry so how would a high powered rwd out run me! or in the track 4wd has advantage same on drag strip ,if this was the case they would be doing them i no the xr6-t has a great following and going ahead in leaps and bounds performance wise.
the jap brigrade are catching and passing your idols now in all areas of motorsport sorry that that hurts you emotionally ,but its just a vehicle.
the days of racing where the vehicles were from basically the show room floor are long gone.
do some research on the JGTC vehicles past and present and tell me if you think the aussies are in the same boat perfoamnce wise!

evo ct230r vs a super car would be the best way to show you scotty
foxdonut,
Apr 9, 1:22pm
And they're still ten years behind Europe.
There's no JGTC any more - its SuperGT - 2 category GT300 / GT500 racing. That Donut King car (that ran the staggering 2.26) is GT500 territory.
JGTC was bullshit racing with near unlimited modifications being allowed to race each other the whole effort was pointless when trying to compare to soft sports or road cars to JGTC efforts.

Race Spec X RS Evo ran a 2.33 in D category. Add the missing hundred horse and you reckon you'll cut a whole 20 seconds off the lap time! just to be almost as good!
Doubt it.

Not irrelavent as it tells you what the car costs to build now. Read first.
Quote from that link. compared to the $500,000 it roughly costs to build a current V8 Supercar.
So read first then have your debate,I have had a number of drinks and can still understand english.
