INCONSIDERATE, STUPID CLOWNS ON THE ROADS!

There are so many instances I can mention of bad driving. nowhere worse than in ChCh! But let me just mention one.idiots who arehell-bent trying to overtake in a passing lane. You know whom I mean: the clown who puts his foot down when you are about to merge! It doesn't matter if there is a long queue of cars ahead but they just must "beat"this last car holding them up by at least 5 seconds!. If that means that the other driver is being forced off the road well, tough luck for him/her! How many drivers realise that even in a passing lane you can not exceed the speed limit! So, only slow traffic going less than 100k/h may be overtaken but WITH CARE!
What is bad behavious on the roads you have observe that gets your blood boiling!

mugenb20b, Jan 29, 10:21pm
People doing 100km/h in the passing lane, and I don't give a f. what the speed limit is.

mileyfan73, Jan 29, 10:24pm
The habit of racing up behind a car, regardless if it's doing 100km/h or not, then sitting on it's bumper for a few k's,then overtaking in the stupidest places i.e near a blind corner.I see this every day.Ridiculous.We have some of the best scenery in the world, how bout relax and enjoy it!Everyone seems so hellbent on getting to their destination and stuff every other road user!

Me.
Hell they don't even have to get on the road, look at how they park!

aj254, Jan 29, 10:26pm
People who overtake you doing about 80 in a 50k area, then keep going 80 on the open road and hold you up.

p.lingham, Jan 29, 10:34pm
1, bad drivers so busy looking at the scenery and not driving the vechile.

2, old people driving at 20-30k on the road slowing everyone down.

mark.52, Jan 29, 10:44pm
Oh, failure to indicate intentions, slow drivers- especially in the right hand lane of a multi-lane road, placing speed cameras where they will earn a bit of dosh, but where there are minimal accident risks, lack of driver attentiveness. That last one is incredibly common. People do not take this driving game seriously.

cantab1971, Jan 29, 10:45pm
the car behind me, when we're both behind a truck and a passing lane comes up.doesn't even give me a second to make my move, insists on swinging out and passing both me and the truck.then does it so slowly anyway, that there's not enough passing lane left for me to go past truck.

I curse him and hope that his daughter marries a camel.

The folk driving to the beach on weekends who go between 50kph and 80kph and refuse to pull over and let anyone get past them. Or the dickhead who was driving under 70 kph home from the beach, braking heavily for all corners and then abused us when we went past on a perfectly straight stretch of road with no cars coming the other way. Maybe he thought he was the road police and we had to follow him 30km into town.

carstauranga001, Jan 29, 10:54pm
I hope you're not one of those people that do about 90 km/hr and holds a line of cars up only to then speed up in the passing lane thus causing frustration and issues when the lane runs out. I really despise these drivers.

Just saying.

Had a beauty yesterday where I using a passing lane to pass a string of cars, but ran out of room JUST before the last car, SO . as per safe driver habit, decided to ease off that little bit & pull in behind that last car.
Looked in the rear view mirror to see another 4x4 up my bumper WHO promptly pulled over in to the gap I needed on the left & ALONG SIDE ME.
He kind of got the message in a hurry that I NEEDED that gap.

You forgot to add the infestation of"a thousand fleas"

loonee-dial-111, Jan 29, 11:32pm
Let me guess you weren't going fast enough

kvano123, Jan 29, 11:33pm
LOLNo no, I am a frequent long distance driver usually driving at110kph (which is 104 kph on my GPS.)

n3d4sp3d, Jan 29, 11:33pm
wankers that drive slow but as soon as they reach a passing lane they suddenly boot it and speed up to 110 just so no one passes

ema1, Jan 29, 11:44pm
I was in Christchurch last weekend and all the above is happening for sure "wankers" what the hell is it with drivers up there!
In the short time I was there I saw numerous dumb things quite a number were definitely dangerous, hell have the EQ's up there bent their rational to such a degree that it seems that lots have a NO TOMORROW mentality.
I sure as hell couldn't wait to clear off away from the total "go for the gap" madness there and travel on open roads south and inland towards home again.
Most times I go any distance now I actually prefer to FLY and get a rental once there, but driving in cities in this country after flying to where you are going to is a dreaded thought, one thing at least there isn't the long drive before getting to eg Christchurch from down south after several hours driving and then having to put up with the TOTAL IGNORANCE and stupidity of drivers there.
Thank god for small towns down south where I live, barring the odd exception of course, driving is a lot more pleasurable and a large degree safer.

During the week I was coming down the motorway "fast" lane and a car in front was sitting on 90 and not moving out of the way. I did a couple of "catch ups" to show my intention and nothing. then 200-300m back I see a Police car with the lights going, so I move to the middle lane. It gets behind the driver and waits. until they wake up 5 secs later to the lights and the noise and move over, and THEN promptly moves back into the fast lane even tho no-one is in front of him in the middle lane.

pieman33h, Jan 30, 1:14am
first up i drive trucks so dont hate me! ok my pet peeves lately - numb nuts who take the whole lane to pass, dont look at the signs then overtake AFTER the lanes finish, only to find im only goin slow because of the car in front of me!
horse float drivers! the shiny things on the side of the vehicle are there to REFLECT objects, if there is a queue behind you - you are holding up traffic! a little consideration - move to the left!
People who overtake me on roadworks. im doing 30 km an hour because the signs (and law!) require it, Believe it or not i do need to get where im goin and would like to go faster! I dont appreciate the shower of stones you throw up!

johnf_456, Jan 30, 1:25am
Its frustrating but what can you do about it, the roads are full of it. But what can you do other than report the real dangerous ones.

johnf_456, Jan 30, 1:27am
I agree totally but in theory the speed limit is the same for passing and some just don't feel comfortable pushing it beyond to get pass risking a ticket and the possible cop waiting at the end of the passing lane for you. I see your point and agree I often see cops / speed camera vans on the end of passing lanes in my travels out and about to nab people.

Its dumb but yeah.

turton, Jan 30, 1:29am
not so much the slow drivers that annoy me (only the really slow ones who dont pull over), its more the impatient pricks who drive up your backside, cut you off when merging etc. people need to be more patient. Is it really worth all that fuss just to get to the destination 20 seconds faster! ggrrr

elect70, Jan 30, 1:31am
Thats what they reckon caused the accident at Paaparaumu last month according to witness following . the guy couldnt get back into lane before it ran out & hit head on .

kvano123, Jan 30, 2:34am
Of course, speed cams at passing lanes would probably solve the problem in time! And the cost of funding it would be quite easily recouped as fines would be in the higher categories! The end result, hopefully, would be saved lives and fewer injuries (not to mention less wreckage).

mark.52, Jan 30, 3:27pm
Yeah, speed cameras at passing lanes would not be seen as a revenue gathering exercise at all, would they!

vtecintegra, Jan 30, 3:28pm
I doubt it.

The problem is far more fundamental, and with your attitude you are part of it.
