I was riding a mountain bike past one once and it told me to slow down. Apparently i can pedal uphill at over 50k's lol

There wasnt anyone else on the road to affect it either

Odd when you drive past them in a broken group of cars all travelling at the same relative speed and the box gives a whole lot of different speeds out as you and the line of cars approach it !

They are merely advisory. One is installed in Kohimarama Road to encourage drivers to slow down, instead of speeding up, as they approach Allum Street.Waste of time as too many drivers have the retentive memory of a gold fish - they speed up again as soon as they see the traffic lights.

They have a radar in them to work them, detector picks them up on k band .

yeah that or the 5 bullet holes in it! typical west auckland, not one hit the camera inside.
that's what happens when ya send a boy with a .22 when what ya need was a man with a shotgun!

Hey you're back! Haha :P

Anyway yeah, I don't trust those roadside speed things.

They can be horribly inaccurate.

You mean the one's that are working. Not sitting on the side of the road giving the rubber necker's something to look at as they slow down to have a look as theydrive past. because common sense is beyond there intellectual ability's
