My car wont start any ideas. It just goes clonk and then smoke comes out from behind engine. Any ideas. Tia

It's a Toyota Caldina 3sfe 93 You turn the key it winds over then makes a loud clonk then smoke comes out.

colour of the smoke!. timing out! maybe loose timing belt, belt jumped a tooth. did they replace the timing belt!

if you run the air conditioning on hot for ten minutes it should come right. also taking the spare wheel out, and removing the window washer fluid reservoir will get it running ok.
