I got a stainless wet and dry vaccum, had it for a week and sucked up a old sock and the drum sucked itself in. repco wanted $44 to fix. so i went to take the old drum to scrap metel and found that the "stainless" drum was attracted by a magnet. very dodgey indeed

Ah but "stainless" ain't the same as "stainless steel".

theres stainless and theres stainless. Many different grades and the less pure variants are still magnetic. The likes of 304 and 316 which are both marine grade and suitable for salt water conditions are not magnetic.
Sometimes you dont need the expensive grades of stainless steel, if its a fridge door or whatever then why would you want to go to the expense of ensuring it is resistant to salt water corrosion, or will not disappear when a test tube of acid is spilled on it! Seems pointless to use the good stuff everywhere. Same principle as using mild steel when there are some fancy chrome moly alloys which I know nothing about but are lots better. Money money money

You should try B'N'T (Brake n Trans), I've been using them for years now, 1st time I used them their retail price was less then my trade price from ripco! Only thing going for repco is that they're open 7 days

I actually worked for this Company for 7 seven years, on the counter.and dealt mainly with the trade.Yes you are correct that there are some staff that aren't quite up with the play.however.I have had on a regualr basis mechanics and men "in the know"jump up and down at me over incorrect parts etc, and when I've asked them to bring the part in for me to compare measure or whatever else.turns out THEY gave me the wrong information. Its not always the parts person's fault.however, I always discounted, and credited freight in these situations to keep my trade etc happy even though I never had too.To be honest, I hated dealing with what we called retailers i.e people who think they know what they are talking about.almost always they gave me the wrong information and were made to eat humble pie when they came in to rip me up for incorrect parts.Know your car people, and know exactly what you want.after all a tie rod end is completely different to a ball joint, though try telling 1 of my know it all custys that!

your old wheel bearing will have a number on it.give that number to the parts person.then they can look up the corresponding wheel bearing kit and tell you exactly what is included, and if the other pieces aren't then they can also get the correct ones off the original wheel bearing number.if its and OEM number, they also have a cross reference catalogue for crossing over to the new part.If it was Repco's fault for supplying an incorrect or incomplete kit, ask the manager for a green card discount and credited freight for it.The Managers are normally pretty good in dealing with these situations

Repco,s GST free weekend just gone , went and bought some oil i expected the full 15% off the price given that this is the amount of GST we pay in nz. Infactthey knocked about 13.5 % off, a bloody rip off and misleadingadvertising . wontbuy from them again.

i buy oil from supersheep 10 liter trade pack when they get 25% off
utwo,
Feb 8, 8:21pm
What's the problem! The maths is correct. Example: $100 + 15% GST = $115. To remove the GST, subtract the $15 from the GST inclusive price. $15 is 13% of $115.

utwo is right
and their ads did say 13% off quite clearly
I worked in a similar shop and of the hundreds of stories i could tell one was a real stand out
guy bought trailer bearings (after a runaround because he didnt want to pull them apart to get numbers, just told me the stud pattern and tyre size)
bought them back a week later saying they had still failed WOF for being too noisy (cue rant about chinese rubbish blah blah blah)
i took bearings out of box, noticed they were very very clean and asked him if he put grease on them, he looked at me like i was stupid and said "they dont need grease they have a seal to keep air and water out, that will stop them corroding "

Actually, your spelling was good, but the word 'there' was used in the wrong context.
