I was crewing on a race car at Taupo so had old clothes covered in dirt etc as we had a break, and went to buy a suit in town (needed one quick for a funeral), the salesman did look after me very well, but cautious, and I spent $1000. If he had ignored me he would of missed out. The old never judge a book by it's cover.

When I was growing up in Hamilton we had a neighbour who always dressed rough and looked really poor but was actually wealthy. He walked dressed like that into one dealership to buy a new car.I cant remember what he wanted but the salesman walked up to him and told him he was wasting his time as he couldnt afford any of the cars they sell and told him to leave. So he walked to the Jaguar dealers next door and they didnt care what he looked like and he came out with the top of the line Jaguar. He rubbed it in to the salesman next door too. That was in either 1967 or 68 cant remember exact year

i so had this happen to me, my partner sent me in to buy a new car he had already sussed out for us, I didnt have time to get out of my gummies and farm clothes- said salesman ignored me for ages then came over and said" perhaps I can show you something more in your price range", my reply "so you always judge a persons cheque book on their clothes huh" bit like pretty woman really "BIG mistake"

Funnily enough, had that discussion with the Mrs last night. She's been a bit crook, so didn't want to breathe all over the new sprog.
