truck has all right like anyone else to pass the other truck any bad comments re the passing truck is what i call temp kiwis and like the shitrod should have yr licence removed
I was driving a van full of Intellectually Handicapped people (not, not my family!) up that hill some years ago (took them on an outing). We were at the end of the passing lane and a truck passed us, causing me to nearly go in the gravel and have to brake heavily (our occupants weren??

I think I know the owner of that tudor, and he is a T/M member. I'll call him and see if we cant get his side of the story. Might make this more interesting.

Regardless, It was a pretty damn close call for everybody & it WAS caused by the Tudor. Intentional or not

that was not the intended or desired reaction Andrew - I don't deliberately try to annoy people I do stand by what I said though, the truck was hard up at the beginning of the passing lane and moved out as soon as he could ( the pole hauler also indicated for him to go ) It was my contention that he should have stayed in and cleared faster traffic behind him before pulling out That was it, plain and simple, stay in and let the faster traffic go, the rest of it is a response to the comments of the driver and the comments made here I think the tudor and other cars were behind him at the start of the passing lane, and consider it in very poor form for him to have just shoved his way on in front of them, on reflection it is entirely possible that they were not, they actually caught up to him somewhere on the hill Road rage, frustration ( real or imagined ) does kill and as I have already suggested there was no need for the actions that followed, if the tudor had kept on truckin there would have been no incident, if the truck had not tried to pass while others were behind him there would have been no incident - conversely if the tudor and the others had actually caught up to him partway up they should have stayed behind and passed at the next opportunity, and there would have been no incident an act of expressing his frustration could have resulted in a lot worse than a vid clip on utube, who caused it!, I'd say a combination of a few factors, the truck, the tudor, the 4 or 5 that followed him, the navara, all or in part contributed

it also does no harm to reflect on that incident, and how you or I would react from either drivers seat,

The second passing lane is stupidly short though.

The hardest point for the average Joe bloggs to grasp is this. It takes a hell of a lot more effort & fuel to get up that same hill. More expense More fuel More wear & tear More time
All this translates to higher goods & service charges

Momentum is a critical part of driving a truck. Had the truckie slowed down to the speed of the first truck, he would probably still be sitting there. He needed to take that chance to overtake, which unfortunately held up others, who should have enough power to easily pass him further on. That's the way I look at it when it happens to me. But I've driven trucks. Annoying when it happens, but even more annoying when its an XR8, SS or fart-cannon that limps past, achieving the same result.

Thats the way I look at it. The truckie should have let all the traffic behind him pass first.

There wouldn't have been enough space to let all cars pass AND the truck. the truck wouldn't have been able too anyway from the lost momentum. Can we agree that almost all of the time a truck will have traffic behind them .! (during the day at least) That's just the nature of trucks, they are slower than cars. So, if a truck always has traffic behind it. and from what you said they should let faster traffic go first - at what point CAN a truck overtake a slower vehicle! Unless they take the opportunity while it's there, they will never be able to get passed a slower vehicle.

The driver of the white (Navara) ute overtaking into oncoming traffic did the most dangerous manuveur.

A four lane highway all the way north would fix it.
