Looks extremely high maintenance but OK to look at. I would certainly take it for a spin if the opportunity arose, but there's no way in hell I'd buy or even try to hold onto it for a few years - after a year or so I pick it'd get pretty noisy and expensive.
But the car would be OK.

Seems quite common for people to see 'pimped' old cars that would otherwise be considered a classic and to complain that they've been ruined. The thing is, frequently the buyers just aren't interested in an original model. I've been in that same position trying to sell an original 850 mini. Couldn't get a decent price as is, but had several interested who I know would whack another motor in and mags on it.
I think you only get to complain about original cars getting ruined, if you are prepared to stump up the cash to 'save' them and have one of your own.

Totally agree.As Escorts (Fords.) are 2 a penny, then it is not as if it is rare.We had a1956 saloon advertised in the club mag for two issues.No one else wanted it so I bought it and saved it from the crusher, so I feel quite happy modifying or replacing everything.What is more, the club can't wait to see the finished article, as unlike the Escort, the old Brit 4 cylinder engine has been replaced with a Brit alloy V8 that was also used in one of their later models anyway.
