now if u loose your licence for sustained loose of traction do you have to have the 28 day stand down!

have they changed the rules again
personally I reckon if you lose your licence you should be walking, giving you another "just for work use" is stupid, you did the crime, do the time

Yeh but sometimes people need their licences for work - do you expect them to lose their job aswell! For doing a skid!
Nah.

to bloody bad, everyone knows the consequenses for these actions. as skin said do the crime, be prepared to do the time
skin1235,
Apr 18, 11:07am
perhaps they need to think about the consequences of that 'little skid' before they do it, it may cost them their job as well as their car
and not do it
so yeh, they should lose their driving privs for any erratic driving behaviour, not get a 'get out of jail free card' in form of a work licence

Don't listen to those weirdos.i bet if i went driving with them i could find enough bad driving habits to loose their licences with out any problems.people like them are very strange

The real question often is did they actually do the 'crime'!
Besides, I'd much prefer the impounding of vehicles with a 28-days roadside loss of driver's licence for anyone who causes a crash. But no, most just get a $150 infringement fee for failing to give way or stop short. Those people are far more dangerous than someone doing a burnout.

Yep and I doubt you will get a "work licence " granted.

The stand down period was 1 monthanywaybefore getting work license &cost over a 1G$ to get

You can get a limited licence if you are disqualified, or if you are suspended for demerits. This doesn't cover getting one while you are suspended for 28 days. The 28 suspension is basically just to get you off the road long enough to get you into court.
You MAY be able to get one for the disqualification that usually follows the 28 day, but it depends what the conviction is for. You have to know that bit precisely.

Only for specified offences. Many don't have the 28-day stand down before you can apply for a work licence. It doesn't cost $1k if you do it yourself.

hell yeah, I'm strange alright, I work on the principal of if you're irresponsible enough to get snapped then you're probably too irresponsible to be given a part time licence too
I wonder if weatherspoon should be allowed to be released from his jail cell during daylight hours so he can go to work, after all his offending was done after dark, and it probably cost him his job too

One of the young fellows I work with got a work license recently, cost him $1500, I did suggest he cycle to work for the 3 months, but that wasn't cool lol.

Drink/drug driving. Sure I reckon you should be walking.Doing a skid. Na I think you should be entitled to a work license.
skin1235,
Apr 18, 6:36pm
why on earth would they be 'entitled' should other law breakers be entitled to partial sentences so their daily life is not inconvenienced which lawbreakers should get this entitlement, just the ones who break the same laws you do, or do we have a personal selection now re sentencing, multichoice to the ones who can cry to mummy the loudest perhaps A = 2 days of tantrums will get you off B = might lose your job so will let you continue driving C = have no idea what responsibility is so we'll ignore all consequences D = waaaaaa mummmmmy

I know someone who lost their licence whilst at work in firms car and still got a work licence. What a stupid system.
russ39,
Apr 18, 6:47pm
no you dont and wont get a work licence for the 1st 28 days.current costings are around the 1800.00 mark.worth it if you have to pickup/drop off people to work etc.loss of traction is not normally a disqualification unless they dream up some new charge as can be done
poppajn,
Apr 18, 6:50pm
Standard thing down here to be disquaifed for it.
skin1235,
Apr 18, 7:23pm
trh, I cannot find 'sustained loss of traction' in that list of 'an order will not be made if etc', what part of the act does sustained loss come under
(you seem to know your way around inside that site whereas I could spend days looking and still not find what I wanted)
