That's the one, I wracked my brains and could for the life of me remember what it was called though thinking about it now with that name it would be one that's hard to remember!
Only thing I did recall was the name being an odd one.

Aussie Ford Falcons from 1961-2 up to 1971 XY models were based on USA Ford Falcons and some carry over from Mercury Comet models.
The 1962-3 Aussie Falcons were virtually the same thing as the USA ones the 1964 on they got increased Australian design input for their road conditions and pressed body panels that departed from the USA styling.
From the 1972 Ford Australia Falcons were totally Australian styled.
Holdens also as you said also had styling cues from the GM-USA particularly from the likes of the BOP/Chevrolet intermediate &compact models. BOP = Buick,Oldsmobile & Pontiac as the yanks referred to them as. A fair amount of drive train gear was Chevrolet as well as the Australian designed/built 6 cyls and V8'sPowerglide and Turbo Hydromatics were 100% USA GMTrimatic was USA designed and Aussie built.
The Holden red engines were actually designed in the USA but cast and machined in Australia.
Same thing with the Aussie Chrysler "Hemi" 6 cyl it was originally a Chrysler Dodge division designed truck engine that Chrysler USA shelved and Chrysler Australia got hold of it and continued the design work up to production .
All Slant 6 Chrysler block & head castings were USA sourced for the whole world wide Chrysler production, untold numbers like 100's of thousands of them were produced over the decades from the late 1950's right up to late 1990's .
The castings for the Slant 6 were produced in the early 1950's and stacked for ages in "massive sand hills" in USA deserts to cure for a big number of years hence the longevity of the type due to brilliant high quality cast iron castings, some of the best cast iron ever produced actually.
A lot of Fords Aussie 6 cyl engines were similarly cast in the USA and then Aussie machined up to the early 1970's to their particular design requirements some being a departure to original USA design dimensions.

Even Ford has recently been using only USA built V8 engines as are Holdens V8's. being Chevrolet engines again. The Alloy tec Holden V6 while being completely Australian the concept is now used in "GM World Car " production though with different dimensions/specs according to market requirements.

The Holden red engines were actually designed in the USA but cast and machined in Australia and closely followed original Pontiac division 6 cyl OHV designs designs apparently.
It was mooted at one stage that the Pontiac Tempest OHC 6 cylinder was to be used in Holdens but the idea was canned in mid 1960's.
Actually Holden based Chevrolets from GM South Africa were totally powered by Chevrolet 6 cyl and V8 drive trains.
I have actually driven a South African Chevrolet numerous times that was pretty much identical to the HT-HG Holdens but had the 250cid Chevrolet 6 cyl and Turbo Hydromatic running gear.
Very rugged & sprightly performing car too, went like the Aussie 308V8 almost.

That 250 Chev motor is quite a strong runner, I remember a 60s Camaro we did some work on once with that motor in it and it wasn't slow.

You must have eaten the books ema. Good shit.
Sorry - ema1

In my line of work it was little things like door handles, hinges - (whether they be bonnet - sorry, hood, trunk or door) suspension & brake parts.
And yes - there were design features like the XA Coon bonnet looking like a 69 Mustang hood, followed by the XB/C being similar to a 71 Ram-Air Mustang hood.
Without a complete recon, I couldn't stop the front calipers on my 73 Stang from rattling, so I bolted XF alloy calipers straight in place using the same mounting holes. It wasn't so much as "can't do" it was just the fact that the XF calipers are better, and were free - which extends to better again.
Same with Holden & Chevy. The Aussies were always a few years behind but using the same parts. I fitted an HQ front suspension into a 67 Camaro, only they fitted backwards on the opposite side, but they were identical. That's why the HQ had its steering box mounted way out front, in order to line up with the steering arms that were now in front of the wheel instead of behind.

ive got a '65 laurentian doing full resto at the moment virtualy the same as the 66, canadian assembled there a stunning car not following the sheep infrontof me called 'impala'

sfw4, Jun 28, 9:45am
Stamped out in Canada then sent to the Hutt in a TKD kit [total knockdown kit] to be re-assembled. Autralasian market were only allowed small block chevs. US Models Bonneville &Catalaina had big blocks and 6cyl's. Laurentian's were the upmarket to poor cousin Impala as more body styling which you'll notice in what they call "muscle flex" in rear door 65 66 67 68 69 laurentians. Impala owners will debate this but its true. Impala bodys are boring. ive owned a 65 66 and still own a 68 Laurentian which was bought by Reidrubber tyres for their General Manager as his Company Car.

not asking to be nosey, is girth the issue, would he handle dropping the seat down and back or would he not have the length to seat in it - I dropped the seat and took it back another 4 inches than normal to fit Tui Teka into my Mk3 when he needed a car for a few weeks.

smaller wheel may help, not sure if they had p/steer, but one could be fitted
Am sure it could be altered to suit the gent so he can drive it again, and done in such a way it could be reversed later
shame to see a good ponty not being driven

fivestar2010, Jun 30, 3:18am
could probably bul the seat out and mount it further back most mechanics should be able handle this mod, should leave enough spare room in back also

lookoutas, Jun 30, 10:22pm
And blocks on the peddles!

fivestar2010, Jul 1, 3:39am
bring it to you for some 4x2 mods
