satisfying may be how you describe the sound of fresh seal hitting the under guards, and the thought it is applying a nice new coat of protective tar may even thrill you too, the facts are though, all those loose chips flying around are by pure luck failing to snap your alt/powersteer/aircon belt, and if they manage to get inside the cambelt cover say goodnight to that too, possibly the engine at the same time, as for the protective coating, it's taking off more than it's applying, depositing wet tar and chips against brake hoses and chassis members is a lotto ticket I'd rather not have

I once got ticketed for going 83 in a 50km/h roadworks zone (normally 100km/h).
The road had a new seal, and the cop told me off because going too fast can damage the new seal, and apparently cause potholes.

Dad used to work on the roads, lots of rebuilding/shaping, sealing, bridges, culverts, etc. He used to have a hand full of stones. with crossed arms, waiting for speeders, and would flick them out without moving his arms. Any 'busted window' complaints were usually seen off with a menacing shovel.
SLOW DOWN. for the workers benefit!

if there are signs posting a limit eg 30 or 50 then pending on the surface and activity id be doing not much more,
try getting yr windscreen chiped and cracked from a twit in acommodore in Karpiro racing on the passing lane comn onto new seal, i had time to u turn and got the rego and had quite a debate with the company owner and the police

perhaps they should put 10km signs up, and park a camera van at each end.
There are too many inconsiderate drivers around, perhaps we do really needto make laws to accommodate the fools, and back them up cos like most fools they ignore laws unless they can bite, consideration is not a law but a courtesy you display to others
They don't give a stuff if you're just starting a 300 km journey and have a very limited time space to achieve it in, ie hospital or family emergency, you know just the right time to NOT cop a smashed screen, cos they cannot imagine what would happen if they were to slow down a little when the condition demand it, they may lose a whole 10 seconds of their life and have nothing to show for it, plus they'd be the loudest crier if they got a rock in their screen, would be a major hassle for them to drive slower from that point on ( strangely they all slow down when actually having to drive with no screen, especially into a cold wind or rain - and it's always the other drivers fault)

In some USA States, fines double if road workers are present. And.unlike here, if you don`t pay the fine, they throw your ass in jail till you do.
It is very rare to see people speed through roadworks and school zones in America, here in NZ, it`s the norm.NZ`s fines, are designed and set low, so as, not to stop the problems, but to make money from them.

we got sprayed by an inconsiderate A-hole, what he didnt realise was the guy in front of us was a big gang member (could see his patch above the back of the bench seat) who hooked a fast u-turn when his windscreen got cracked. Would love to have seen the result when he caught up with him.

While I agree you should not speed through road works one wrong doing does not justify another wrong doing by committing vandalism on purpose.

Its about time they started putting more speed cameras around them, coming to work this morning I went through some. Slowed to 30k only to find some holden driver in a ute plant it and put a nice chip in the car in front of me windscreen.

Some people are too stupid to abide by the rules. you'd probly do it too if you were peppered with stones all day!

johnf_456, Apr 13, 8:45am
I wouldn't resort to such levels, one wrong does not justify another wrong. Sure as hell I would be annoyed but I would not resort to vandalism regardless. There is much more intelligent ideas to deal with it over committing vandalism.
