I think you maybe mistaken on that. The E38 was great in its day, but crash into a 5 star NCAP rated 2012 car with a high tensile steel passenger protection cell and the new car will use your car as a giant crumple zone.

But thats the whole point. The posters 24 year old Honda is likely worth much the same sort of money as something half its age which is safer.
My 99 Fiat Marea cost me $1200, and it has dual airbags, pre-tensioners, ABS etc Its low km's and tidy too.
Sure there are even safer vehicles on the road but its a darn site better than the Honda.

Maybe they prefer the Honda and couldn't careless about the safety etc
I could of got a mid-late 90s jappa for the price I paid for my car, but didn't.

BTW, with regard to safety.
There is often value in taking a calculated risk in return for a reward.
In the case of the Honda its all risk for no reward.
Big difference there.

They asked for my opinion, I gave it.

poster is talkin ultra reliabilty which is money in the back pocket :))) betat the devil you know . keep the car!
scoobeey,

yes the risk is food on the table :)))

Well Johnny, it's not always one or the other.it can be both you know. There are people out there driving Audi A7s and E55 Mercs.or whatever.

Errr.not trying to be a troll here, but mate, Fiat is not a better car than a Honda. Trust me.
franc123,

Thats because you were probably the only person in the country that wanted to buy it, same with Punto's lol.
thejazzpianoma,
May 19, 9:27pm
No its not, as pointed out above they could have something much safer for similar money.
As for reliability, the "better the car you know" bit is likely well canceled out by the high km's and age on the vehicle. Stuff wears out with km's and time, you can't fight that. That honda will have plenty of wires with old hard insulation ready to crack, old rubber parts waiting to fail etc etc.

Please don't call me johnny, everything in life has risk associated with it.
In what way! I have had plenty of experience with both as it happens. As much as I liked those Honda's when they were newer the Fiat is vastly superior both IMO and on paper.

The Marea looks a bit odd nowadays but aside from that its great. I do have the wagon though, I much prefer it to the sedan.

Thats a GREAT video! I had to watch with the sound off but in case they didn't say it those Volvo 940's were the epitome of big and safe in their day.

so does the poster take your advise upgrade and it ends up costing them bigtime! hell not again!
thejazzpianoma,
May 19, 9:33pm
Say they don't take my advice and wind up dead!
Incidentally over the years I have been on here very few people who have bought what I suggested have had trouble. All those that have that I am aware of have had problems caused by lack of maintenance rather than the car. Those problems could have been picked up too if they checked the car out more thoroughly.

That's what I thought too, until I read the first comment below it.

Good spotting! What a disappointment. That said I have seen other videos with similar effect that were not setup like this one seems to be.

Hey, I'd still rather be in a smaller modern car over the older bigger one.

Me too, BTW did it actually say the engine was removed (I have no sound) because looking at it again I wouldn't say it was obvious there was no engine. I wonder if the comments are wrong!

From memory those engines were north/south and quite skinny in the middle of a wide engine bay. I could see it just being pushed to one side slightly and appearing as it did.
