losing water from the cooling system, so whats the best repair in a bottle! I know the best cure is fixing it good and proper but thats not what I want. Car is a 92holden calais, engine is a 3.8L, done 300+km.

I assume you know it is a headgasket and have done a TeeKay test, etc that proved that it is!
Anyway, can't remember the name, but I once used some stuff recommended by the bloke at Repco. Following the instructions exactly, it actually worked for about a year. It is a cheaters thing to do though, and people on this forum will rightly criticise oyou for contemplating it!

I know, but its really not worth fixing properly when I can get an engine with a 3rd of the km for a few hundred. The water thats in it is oily as well, no water in the oil so far.

People don't like it, because guys do a temporary fix and then flick the car onto some sucker without telling them. Which isn't nice.

its brother in laws car, he uses less than a tank of gas between wofs so very few km, hence only wanting a bandaid fix

Iron title and chemiweld will repair cracks in heads but will do nothing for the gasket, try seal well blocks now stocked at BNT, they will seal your gasket most times.Good luck.

LOL that reminds me. A brother used to use 1 for resealing lightly burnt pistons, you know that stage where the busted piece of ring has popped up the side of the piston skirt & out the top. You would poor the gunk down the plug hole on a warm engine & let it sit for a few hours then start it up & drive gently. for a day or 2
Piston weld or something like that, LOL, blimin well worked a few times

Remember that stuff, it didwork well. We used to use it to keep our old morry oxfords, wolseleys and austinA60s alive.Looked like tar from a road repair!
try a smalltin of silver paint in the radiator, then take it for a drive to get up to running temp, lasts at least a year,

Super cheap auto sell a product called 'permanent head gasket fix' and it's $80 a bottle. Why so expensive! It's the only one that's compatible with coolant, so you don't need to drain the system first. Put it in, run for 20 mins, top up, and your done.

There is nothing wrong with additives. They have their place. It is not usualy economicly viable to replace the head gasket on a 20 year old car but with an additive it may be driven for a long period of time. What is silly is spending more than the car is worth to fix a head gasket "properley"

Well Chem I Weld seems to have stopped oil getting into the coolant. Have now found the heater core is leaking so have to fix that too, looks like fun to get to the core!

it is you have too pull practacly everything out (dash) or google it, 1 guy jst cut the metal pipes from engine bay and cut pipes on heater core and put 2 rubber hoses on, reconded lot easier
