And enough room in the engine bay to house a family of 5.lol
I remember seeing a picture of the HQ rotory in a magazine. The engine bay looked huge with a tiny little rotory in there.

jarrod261, Jun 21, 6:58pm
Both are 4 door sedan family cars.Seem similar enough to me johnny boy.

johnf_456, Jun 21, 7:01pm

peejeles, Jun 21, 8:43pm
i'll never buy another holden ever again. every one a lemon

sifty, Jun 22, 5:02am
I'm glad the article pointed out the sheer ugliness of the VL Walkinshaw. Even for the times it was a monstrosity.

stockyz, Jun 22, 5:25am
first car i ever owned was a salmon pink ek

jezz43, Jun 22, 5:40am
so whats an HSV normally cost! $80,000+! so buy an Euro R, add the cost difference between the vehicles to the hondas engine and suspension etc. you really think the HSV would stand a chance! no one said the honda was clear cut better. but your dead set holdens are all that. funnily enough there are plenty of vehicles that would eat the HSV. my bosses 09 GTP would make you eat your words. maybe you should just admit that not everyone is a die hard holden fanatic like you and personal preference does play a part when people purchase a car, not your opinion

I can remember reading an article about when the nissan engine went into the commodore and that holden approached a number of automotive companies before that to find a motor for it and even approached Ford but were quickly shown the exit lane in the car park, then something i read was nissan were suing holden about the whole deal!,anyone have some light on this.

jezz43, Jun 22, 5:49am
nissan probably sued holden over fitting an engine into a car that rusted to death faster than a boyracer could blow the engine up.

mrfxit, Jun 22, 6:28am
The UJ Sunbird I had was 1 of the best cars I ever had for handling & general performance/comfort/ reliability & economy.>>>> >>>

.
.
Yea ok. so it wasn't std .BUT it was magic for it's age.

Tweaked 186/ high comp ported head/ extractors plus free flowed exhaust system
Stiffened suspension
Toyota 5 speed
Cng /petrol.

Sadly , that 70's disease got the better of the body

thegravelracer, Jun 22, 6:30am
oi clown go back to the other thread and read again i wasent refering to the euro smoking the hsv i ment you talked a whole bunch of holden mucho crap and got eaten alive by the other people on the thread ,and if i wanted to smoke your hsv id rather do it in my 1.6 vtec integra lol eat your shitbox commy anyday lol

mrfxit, Jun 22, 6:36am
As far as the worst engines go, it would have to be the Opal 1900
The Starfire 1900 was a totally different engine & far superior to the Opal.

mrfxit, Jun 22, 6:40am
Just read that list & it's mostly about fashion
Hardly worth the time to read it.

sifty, Jun 22, 6:55am
Oooh that would be quite collectible now. They weren't a bad old bus, just a bit slow to be updated.

johnf_456, Jun 22, 7:22am
1.6 vs a supercharged commy v6 yeah right.

richardmayes, Jun 22, 8:16am
WOW. you drop one lazy BS comment saying Hondas are better than Holdens, and whammo!

TEN defensive posts about how Holdens are this, that and the other from scotty over a period of three hours or more.

If you want to dance, Sir Count, you'll dance to Figaro's tune.

thegravelracer, Jun 22, 8:18am
i didnt say anything about a stock 1.6 did i lol he really is welcome to try
enuf about hondas tho this thread is about holdens and i respect that

thegravelracer, Jun 22, 8:21am
and to be honest id say the 90's models vectra my old one [94] kept blowing head gaskets and a mate [96] was doing the same with normal day to day driving

johnf_456, Jun 22, 12:23pm
Race then

elect70, Jun 22, 12:27pm
HDcirca 1965,the commodore 4 , & sunbird .

arikip, Jun 22, 12:29pm
Actually the VT GTS with the 220kW stroker engine was a bit of a slow boat. Not in a million years would one do the 0-100k sprint in "just over 5 seconds". Even the VTII LS1 powered GTS would have trouble doing those times. The sheer weight of the VT1 with the old stroked 5.7 V8 meant even slower times than the previous 2 generation strokers ie VR/VS.

321mat, Jun 22, 12:29pm
Ha ha haa!I remember the VB Commodore with the "mighty" starfire engine. 4 cylinders of FAIL.

The automatic versions were the worst - they struggled to even do 100km/h.

321mat, Jun 22, 12:31pm
Then, there was the VL Commodore which would rust before your eyes.

And, the VN Commodore, whose build quality was so bad, and the manufacturing tolerances so approximate, that you could almost get into the car without opening the door.

rob_rooster, Jun 22, 2:07pm
I dont really understand the whole HSV thing, it must be marketing hype that gives people the stars in their eyes to buy these things.
I mean, add a ugly bodykit to a taxi bodyshell , a set of ugly looking mag wheels, some bigger brakes and a corvette sourced V8 engine and voila hand over $90k to $100k for this bad boy!
Im glad I dont have the keep up with the jones disease!

thegravelracer, Jun 22, 2:44pm
i dont think its faster than a stock sti i know it is bro
try a 290 hp 1 tonne fwd vtec turbo and dont give me crap about traction it bites
