As a bit of a Ford Fan (usually the Euro RS/Cosworth stuff) I find it amazing re: the Aussie stuff how well rated the (latest model at least) FPV's are for power & general driving by the motoring press (and also just the normal Falcon for that matter), and how the Ford's seem to compete mostly OK in the racing as far as I know , but just looking on MB here regarding general discussion , and also how many Fords are on the roads compared to Holden equiv. they barely seem to rate. Is it because the Ford dealers here don't do the FPVor Falcon justice compared to Holden with HSV ! It just appears that all the old GT Ford fans from the 70's (who let's face it had to be hard to argue with back then) & who no doubt now have the same $$ to spend on the current models as HSV customers , do not seem to be following or purchasing the brand now. I imagine many HSV's are "company lease" deals etc also , and so do they have better lease deals rather than the boss simply wanting a HSV. Why is the following so strong towards Holden/HSV these days !

Your observation/backing seems to be:
"but just looking on MB here regarding general discussion , and also how many Fords are on the roads compared to Holden equiv. they barely seem to rate."
I don't really agree with you.

Well , I wasn't going to mention that thought before someone else , but I have noticed many (even very late model) owners do seem to have the "required" Jackets and shirts also !
gman35,

So you don't think either the general amount of discussion, or cars on road are heavily in HSV's favour !

you just dont mention you are HSV positive , people will start to avoid you .

I'm a Ford fan - I'm biased.
I'm not joking when I say I think HSV 'fans' are complete dropkicks.
Sorry - just my 2c

Let's be honest. They both are.

HSV is a stronger 'brand' (and holden in general) than FPV / Ford.
Here in Australia if you want something cheap and fast you buy HSV.

And the Rice brigade are all respectable

Fanboy's of any ilk are retards. Ford / Holden morons are just as idiotic as "import" / Ricer / "my car handles better and makes more power per litre" dipshits as well.
The only people that know what they're talking about are the Euro fans, cept those are rare because 911's are expensive.
gman35,

Yes , to be honest it is funny to hear blue and red "arguing". It's like saying "My McDonald's is better than your Burger King" They are bothaverage in world terms and unless you have "fine-dined" and so can offer higher comparison comment , doesn't really mean or say alot.
gman35,
May 23, 2:26pm
So I ask again , why do you think this is , is it because Holden is seen as more of a "Homegrown" brand (which also uses taxpayer funding) which the Australasians feel more attached to !. I would have thought that Fordwith their overall better range of cars worldwide compared to GM would be seen as the stronger "brand".
bellky,
May 23, 2:27pm
Who cares about Australia, really!
bellky,
May 23, 2:29pm
You say the only people who know what they're talking about are the euro-trash brigade - but you don't know what you're talking about.
bellky,
May 23, 2:30pm
People who like Holdens are the ones who get caught up in the hype. Ford has always made the better car in comparison.
bellky,
May 23, 2:32pm
"fine-dined" is a matter of taste.
bellky,
May 23, 2:39pm
Doesn't anyone want to argue a pointless point!
Maybe just not with me.
Don't blame ya.
gman35,

And that's what most aussie mag's I have read say. Sure , the xr8 / orig. GT always had the weaker V8 , but apparently mostly had nicer interiors , better finish etc , and just "drove" generally better when not using 10/10th of performance which is 99% of the time , but it's not what the sales charts agree with ! Look at Falcon at the moment , pathetic compared to Commodore.
redpheonix9,

I would, but I am not HSV Positive, because I own a Ford.
gman35,
May 23, 2:45pm
well , maybe someone that has tried more than 2 "smorgasboard restuarants" ! HaHa

Yip, I've been following Ford/Holden since I was at school (20+ years ago) and Ford has always had the better more dynamic chassis, more useable torque etc. etc. But people (common people) get stuck on the flashy hype and next thing it's Holden this and Holden that.
At least that's the way I see it. I came from a family where my father was Ford and grandfather was Holden. I made my own choice in the end, and don't get me wrong, I have loved some Holdens in the past.

Hi.

No, its simply because they advertise more. If you want a cheap fast car you buy an HSV. A fully tricked out R8 costs about 50 grand less than a bare bones BMW M3 which is what people actually want, but it performs basically the same.
The Ford stuff is for government fleets and taxi's; thats why they're financially more stable than Holden, they offer a more reliable range of cheaper cars than Holden and have the buyers stictched up. Holden pushes out to the public market because thats where its money is.
Honestly, FPV's are pretty rare on the streets in NSW or VIC, they're just not the image that people want, or at least, get told they want by google ads and television.

I agree with this^ a bit fwiw. To my mind the Ford premium brand (GT, XR, Tickford, FPV etc.) has more 'class'.
