Thats gotta be a beddy. And in that position you could just pour the gas straightdown the top.

patience grasshopper, sort a manifold, and by the time one arrives the perfect carb may appear on trade me.

smaller primary, better torque.

the 202 has had minor work done to it apparently. it seems quite peppy for what it is and other 202s ive driven in the past. from what ive been told it has had a full rebuild 2 years ago and had the head done (not sure how, they couldnt elaborate on this) and has had a mild cam installed. im yet to remove rocker cover to see but it is noticeably different. its not far off my berlina in acceleration and thats running on LPG.

ah could get away with slightly bigger carb if its been tweaked slightly. any improvement to the ignition!

i was reading the old holden forums earlier, they mentioned putting in an HEI distributor! as current i think its standard however it has a sparkplug mounted to the side of the block for some reason. it doesnt appear to have any wires running from it, but its apparently got a "use"

not blocking a hole for a temp or oil sender maybe! yeh go the hei route. lose the resistor wire, whack a big coil in and get a spark big enough to melt the pistons. but seriously hei is the way to go. can run a slightly richer mix when you up the spark size too, combine that with a few other tweaks and a 32/36 or adm may be the go.

I reckon vans is what the old turbo alloys with big rubber were designed for. will have a look see what lpg gear or carbs I have in the morning and get back to you

yea, hopefully it will look good one day, its a very slow work in progress at the moment, i only get weekends to work on it and it rains half the time. so its kinda musical chairs with welding and the rain lol. bloody thing is too high to fit in my carport

I just joined Old Holdens, have been talking about coils and leads etc, I recently fitted the Bosch HEI dizzy into my 179, starts easier, runs smoother, revs harder and better. Cost $80 off TM, went straight in with no issues and fired first time.

Keep those Taylor leads, far superior to anything available at Repco or SCA. Mine cost $146 in the 90's!

the leads are brand new, just covered in crap from grinding out alll the bog the previous owner thought to fill every nook and cranny with. what sort of HEI dizzy and coil pack should i be looking for!

daves onto it with the later model bosch. can run cdi units and the like once you go the hei route, at the very least losing all resistance in the ignition system and getting a bigger spark. may be able to get aftermarket hei for holden! I dont know. only aftermarket I could find for the coon was a dui unit. $$$$$

any luck looking thru your stuff this morning xacoon! also where would i be able to find and HEI dizzy for a 202! cant see any on TM. yet another part i may have to buy brand new
xacoon,

not for mixers, got a couple of carbs. later model 202 is what you want to be chasing up for a hei setup
jezz43,

later model meaning it comes out of what! how are the HEIs wired in too!

I used the factory wires, simple swap, might upgrade 12v+ wire if needed. And. there was a leccy dizzy listed last week(!), save as a favorite, and you will be emailed when another comes up. I'm also using the Bosch HEC 716 coil which was the original on the VH and VK(!)

not sure if im typing in the wrong things or what, but im having trouble finding anything.
xacoon,
Jun 29, 6:01pm
will work fine with the factory wires, but if its got a resistor wire you wont be getting full saturation. noticable difference losing the resistance. sorry jezz I am unsure when holden started with hei, or what will fit what

202 Carby black motor VK.1984 onwards I believe. Fits Straight in.Wiring is virtually the same if not identical.
202 Royal/INJ motors have a different ignition system, which is not suitable.

I got my weber 32/36 off a 2 Litre cortina, also i think they are on the xf falcons aswell!, 10 years ago when i did this, the carbs were very easy to get hold of, now i think they are getting quite tuff to find, theres a guy in dominion road auckland that will rebuild the carbs and has readily available parts.
rlr29,

All Dizzy and cam gears are the same.
xacoon,

nup adm on xf

will the pre hei systems not have a resistor wire or ballast setup in them!
